Seventy-six jolly juniors once again registered for their third year. Our Class of- ficers, under the leadership of Mr. Hedrick and a new member to our Unity faculty, Mr. George Harris, were Gary Niekamp, President; Dean Herring, Vice President; Janet Maynard, Secretary; Carl Koontz, Treasurer; Phyllis Detrick, Reporter; and Glenna Starman, Student Council Representative. Judy Lentz represented o«r class on the var- sity cheerleading squad. The Olympics , our Homecoming float, followed the theme of Current Affairs. Karen Kuhn, Janet Maynard, and Judy Lentz were the Junior attendants to the queen. Phil Schmeideskamp was also in the dramatics play, Danger, Love at Work. The prom, In the Misty Moonlight , was held at the Holiday Inn in honor of the seniors. Fifteen girls provided entertainment for our guests. Glenna Star- man won a 70-word typing award, with Sandra Daugherty and Lucinda Wollbrink winning the bookkeeping award. The typing I award went to Mary Stockhecke, and Rod Frazier won the athletic free throw award. Seventy-three seniors entered good old U. H. S. for their last year in the fall of 1965. Our elected officers were: President, Carl Koontz; Vice President, Glenna Star- man; Secretary, Mary Stockhecke; Treasurer, Kassie Belden; Student Council Repre- sentative, Lucinda Wollbrink; Reporter, Mike Crouch. Mr. Hedrick and Mr. Harris were with us again as our sponsors. Judy Lentz again represented our class as varsity cheerleader. Judy was also crowned Homecoming queen. In her court were Shirley Han- ley, Karen Kuhn, and Patty Viar. Our float, The 4th of July , under the theme of Holidays , won a co-second place. The seniors sponsored the second annual Christmas dance. Karen Kuhn and Dean Herring were crowned queen and king of the sophomore- sponsored Basketball Sweetheart dance. The juniors gave us a fabulous prom at the Holiday Inn, with Shirley Hanley and Rod Frazier being queen and king. As a final get- together, we went to Siloam Springs State Park for a picnic. A banquet at the Rainbow Inn and a dance at the school ended the day. As we look back on the four years spent at Unity High School, we realize how much we have learned from the ever-patient faculty. We sincerely thank each one of them for all they have done. A special thanks must go to our class sponsors, Mr. Harris and Mr. Hedrick, Mr. R. H. Underwood, our Counselor, and Mr. Ellis Simler, our Prin- cipal. Through all our lives we will always remember Unity and the cherished memories we have.
