CLASS HISTORY In May of 1957, all the eighth grade pupils of Fowler, Loraine, Lima, Meyer, Mendon, and Ursa enjoyed a visit at Unity High. In the fall 84 of us returned and soon organized the Freshman class under the sponsorship of Mr. Keane. The officers that year were: President--Dave Strickler; Vice-President--Melvin Kuntz; Secretary and Treasurer --Pat Crouch; Student Council Representative --Bob Worman. The Freshman Cheerleading squad were: Marilyn Herring, Vicki Finlay, Pat Crouch, and Carol Stockhecke. Throughout the year we participated in many activities. To make money we picked up corn. Hillary Parrack and Pat Crouch were our representatives in the S-P-Y Dance. We won second place in the Homecoming parade. Marilyn Herring was an attendant to the FFA Sweetheart at the FFA banquet. We ended our year with a picnic in the Mendon Park in May. In 1958, our officers were: President--Dave Strickler; Vice-President--Marilyn Herring; Secretary--Carol Stockhecke; Treasurer --Beth Baecker; Student Council Representative--Larry Cantrell. Carol Stockhecke and Bob Worman represented us at the annual S-P-Y Dance. Carol Stockhecke and Marilyn became Varsity Cheerleaders. Our class held the first Basketball Sweetheart Dance and crowned a Basketball Queen. Hillary Parrick was elected Vice-President of the Student Council for his junior year. Six people were chosen to serve at the Junior-Senior Prom. Melvin Kuntz received the Citizen- ship Award. We ended that year with 89 in our class. In the fall of 1959, only 79 of us came back for our junior year. Our officers were: President--Larry Cantrell; Vice-President--Bob Worman; Secretary--Vicki Finlay; Treasurer --Suzanne Knox; Student Council Representative --Joyce Althoff. Our float 2000 A.D. won first place at Homecoming. Pat Crouch, Marilyn Herring, and Joyce Althoff were in the Queen's Court. Cheerleaders were: Martha Burgher, Carol Stockhecke, and Marilyn Herring. Our magazine sales topped three thousand dollars. Our high salesmen were: Melvin Kuntz, Jack Wiedmyer, and Beth Baecker. Our candidates to the Top Gun dance were Bob Ballard and Marilyn Herring. Hillary Parrack was elected to serve as President of the Student Council for his Senior year. We entertained the Seniors with a Prom, Mardi Gras at the Elks Club in Quincy, May 20. Music was furnished by Jr. Musolino and his Band. Dave Strickler, Melvin Kuntz, Ray Muegge, and Arlyn Voorhis were our delegates to Boys' State. Connie Campbell, Pat Crouch, and Marilyn Herring were our delegates to Girls' State and Conservation Camp. In the fall of I960, 73 Seniors enrolled at Unity High for the last time. Mr. Keane was our sponsor for the fourth year and Mrs. Wood helped us for the second year. Our officers were: Pre sident --Bob Worman; Vice -President --Mike Myers; Sec- retary--Beulah Sill; Treasurer- -Carol Stockhecke; Student Council Representative-- Ray Muegge. We again won second place in the Homecoming parade. Our Queen was Marilyn Herring; her attendants --Beth Baecker, Carol Stockhecke, Pat Crouch. At the Fed Reb Dance, Beulah Sill and Ray Muegge were crowned Mr. and Miss Dixie. Marilyn Herring was chosen Queen at the Basketball Sweetheart Dance. Carol Stock- hecke and Marilyn Herring completed four years of cheerleading. Pat Crouch was also on the squad this year. Joyce Althoff was crowned FFA Sweetheart at the annual FFA banquet. The Junior Prom Wonderland by Night was enjoyed at the Elks Club May 12. Hillary Parrack and Marilyn Herring were crowned King and Queen. To celebrate our success at Unity High, we enjoyed a trip to Chicago. Class Colors: Lavender and White Class Flower: White Rose Class Motto: So Little Done, So Much to Do 26
