pnmcupal's aoolzess Dear Class of '59 You can look back to your senior year as the year that ushered in the space age. Jokingly you talked about taking a honeymoon to the moon. During the Christmas season a human voice was heard for the first time from outer space. The 4 V2 ton U. S. earth satelite Atlas broadcast President Eisenhowerls words: Peace on earth and good will to men everywhere. As I am writing this, the Russians have 3. 1V; ton moon rocket racing past the moon to join the solar system as a tiny planet. The exploration of space by such rockets and by radioscopic telescopes has made our earth look insignificantin contrast to the unfolding, apparently limitless heavens about us. Scattered through the heavens are many, many galaxies, one of which is the Milky Way. Comparatively speaking, the earth is but a speck of star dust near one end of the Milky Way. Many learned men who live on this 'lspeck of dustn get lost in the immensity of this universe and teach that all is meaningless and that man lives on the brink of uothingness. Into such a wondering and wonderful world you are thrust. Your home, church, and school taught you that it is no accident that you were born in the 20th century or that you are graduating from Unity Christian. You were brought up in a faith that devestating inter- continental missiles cannot destroy. Our hope and prayer is that all this newly discovered space and power will enrich for you Christls words: .. . . all power is given unto me in heaven and on earth. May it be your privilege to sing with confidence to a hopeless world, All hail the power of Jesus' name. Congratulations ! Walter A. De Jong Principal
