Orchesis: It's Dance A lot of determination, the want to do a little more than the average student, and liking to dance. This is what it takes to be in Orchesis, according to Naidine D'Angelo. Last March tryouts were held in which thirty students, juniors and seniors, par- ticipated. Each student got one hour to learn a thirty second dance. They prac- ticed for two nights. On the third night the students presented the dance to the judges. The students with the best pre- sentation were chosen for the 1981-82 Orchesis class. Orchesis did many new things this year. They elected two committees. The publicity committee distributed The Fleet Feet , a newsletter which informed the faculty of upcoming performances and projects. The moneymaking commit- tee sold calendars in October and spon- sored a paper and tin can drive. This year was the first year students could repeat the class. These students were Jody Grasz, Paul Hasenwinkel, and Janis Pauli, all seniors. Miss DlAngelo is currently in the pro- cess of establishing an Orchesis I at North Campus and an Orchesis Il at South Cam- pus. GINA GARDNER 1. Jody Grasz, Beckie Grenier, Cindy Zoller, and Jett James, perfect a complicated move. 2. Tom Dennis, senior, and Mary Traylor, senior, are stu- dent directors for this year. 28 Entertainment 4?

Fall Play: Melodrama Fall play director, Mr. Michael Schmidt commented about the Panther Players' first production of the year, Every few years we need to do a show that isnft great literature, but which is a lot of fun. Dirty Work ln High Places was a lot of fun for all of us. The play was a melodrama with the typical villain, Gentle Grimes or GG lplayed by a convincing Tom Dennis, sen- iorl who lied, cheated, and generally tried to make the lives of the town folk miser- able. Of course there is a young and beautiful heroine, Little Saccharin lAngie Suess, juniorl, who with her innocence attracts the unwanted attention of the de- testable GG. In order to save her family from pover- ty, Little Saccharin is forced to work for GG. However all is not lost. Enter the hero, Dauntless Crusader lGreg Long- bons, seniorl who is in love with Little Saccharin and saves her from the evil clutches of Gentle Grimes. The eventual end comes with the villain being foiled again. The actors did an excellent job of cap- turing the lighthearted spirit of the play and putting on a performance that had the audience enthralled by the fun with which they portrayed their characters. BETH KIPP LYNN HUNSINGER 1. Gene Webb, Torn Dennis, Angie Suess. and Greg Longbons get fogged out by the smog machine. 2. Diane Johnson. Gene Webb, Tom Dennis, Laurie Hayes and Janis Pauli are one big happy family, 30 Entertainment
