Choir Is In Tune This year,s choral department was di- vided between two directors, Mr. Donald G. Dyer taught the sophomore chorale, a freshman girls soprano-alto choir, and a freshman boys tenor-bass choir, and the handbell choir. These choirs had two per- formances during the year, one being the Christmas concert and the other a spring concert. Mr. Charles Traylor, taught two girls soprano-alto choirs, and a small chamber choir made up of juniors and seniors. Mr. Traylor stated, A choir in itself is an instrument a director has to get all the parts together and they've got to work together. Due to the drop in enrollment of sing- ers, chamber choir underwent a few changes. They became a madrigal and jazz choir and voted on a new name for the group and came up with 'iPersonal Touch. This group presented a Christmas con- cert in the South Campus auditorium and caroled through the halls before Christ- mas vacation. They were permitted to leave school to perform for the Retired Teachers Association and also the Colona school P.T.A. In May, they performed at a spring jazzfpops concert and finally in- troduced the first madrigal dinner at Unit- ed Township High School. The choral department also saw the arrival of a new sound system which aid- ed the chamber choir in their perfor- mances, Mike Williams, junior, commented, HIt's not the easy credit people think it is, but it,s fun. l wish more people were in it-iv JULIE SMART l.
