Tom Dennis, senior, portrayed Gentle Grimes in this year's fall play Dirty Work in High Places, 2. The pep band riled students up during pep assemblies. 3. The Panther Players show their school spirit at the homecoming as- sembly. 4. These students rehearse their lines for the fall play. 5. Greg Longbons, senior, plays the accordian in the fall play. 6. Panther Band Sparks Spirit All the time and dedication spent prac- ticing and marching certainly paid off for the band, sparking the spirit of all Pan- ther fans. Students and parents enjoyed the enthusiasm displayed on and off the field. The concert band consisted of over 100 talented UT students who performed at football and basketball games, assem- blies, and their annual Christmas and spring concerts. Mr. Mallie Williams, band director, stated, I hope that this yearas band will reach its full potential. Accord- ing to many pleased spectators, they did. In addition to the Concert band there is Jazz Lab, a select group of band mem- bers. The Jazz Lab plays popular music throughout the Quad-Cities area. Other bands are the two freshmen bands, which prepare the students for a higher level of instruction. Sue Dravis, sophomore, summed up her feelings about band by saying, The cold morning practices are all worthwhile when you get out on the field at a football game. lt's really terrific, I guess itls the people involved.
