Mil I 1 II IMIM Mill iilUII V I V K II III 'III lilt A l W imi| I III 111 n ii min 11111 r Memories, memories, dreams of dap gone by—” As another school year draws to a close, the events that were so much a part of our lives will soon become only treasured memories . . . memories that to us of the Senior Class can never be relived except in dreams. But to those who step ahead to take our place, these memories will again be transformed into the highlights of UTHS's social events — homecoming, the senior ball, graduation. Together we of the Senior Class have projected ourselves into the memories of the school; separately, as individuals, we have our own special memories of our life at UTHS. Thus, we dedicate the SKYLINE of 1953 to our memories. Pat and Ike, Editors 4 Memories o Homecoming lQb3 6 HOMECOMING Homecoming was the gayest and most colorful event of the year. Secretly built floats on parade . . . that long awaited moment — the crowning of the king and queen . . . cheering around the blazing bonfire . . . the hard fought game with Argo . . . dancing to the music of Jack Manthey s orchestra . . . these and a million more — our memories of homecoming. SENIOR BAIJ Senior Ball — breathless hush as each couple enters the ball . . . excited whispers over pastel-colored gowns of flowing net . . . fragrance of flowers lingering in the half-darkened atmosphere . . . soft strains of mood music ... an evening glorious; an evening to be remembered. asses The seniors, having shared work, play, and now memories. arc ready to take their plaS leaders in the orld of tomorrow-. While they leave behind them a high scholastic and extra-curricular record to speak tor their many worthwhile achievements, they will take with them into their chosen fields the knowledge and experience they have . gained. Their high school life, rich with laughter and friendship, has been highlighted by Homecoming, the Senior Ball, and Graduation. These will not be forgotten, but will remain in the hearts of the seniors as memories of their four years on the hilltop. CAMERA CLUB Lights, camera, action” is an expression one might well hear at one of the regular monthly meetings of the Camera Club. Membership in the club requires that you have a camera of some size, shape, or form and an interest in the field of photography. Through the experience of the various members the amateur photographers benefit by each others' mistakes, thus increasing their skill to take good, clear pictures. PEP CLUB With the memories of many thrilling games, the 1953 Pep Club fades but will come to life again when school starts next fall. Its aim is to promote more and better school spirit. It has over ISO vigorous and enthusiastic members. These members of the school, sitting in a designated spot at the games, keep up a steady round of cheers and also display flash cards. They have done much to boost the already high spirit of the school. Miss Marion Dean has been its able sponsor. One of its projects this year was sponsoring a dance. 60 The Pep Club officers, whose job it is to guide the students of UTHS into possessing and exhibiting better standards of school spirit, are pictured at left — Miss Dean, sponsor; Pete Economus, vice president; Ruthie Brittcnham, president; Nancy Rick, secretary; and Gerry LeFevere, treasurer. By having many interesting and informative programs throughout the year it brings to the students a better understanding of the requirements in a business office. By teaching them newer and better office methods the club prepares them for their business careers. Juniors and seniors enrolled in business courses make up the membership. LIBRARY CLUB 68 There's no friend like a good book. Possibly no one believes in this statement as strongly as the members of the Library Club. Eligibility in the club requires at least a B average in classroom subjects and an interest in furthering the ideals of a school library. One of the highlights of the year was a dinner party held in the cafeteria, with the UTHS Library Club serving as host to the Moline Library Organization.
