As a leader he was second to none, and his ability to coordinate for -es strnn across half a world and half a lifetime was of the greatest valne to his country tlirough three wars. Admiral Joy is that example which we would all do well to follow. He has done much for the Class of 1957 in pointing out the path toward the distant goal. Admirtjl Charles Turner Joy was one of this group. In him one could see that youth was not a time of life; for to him it was a state of mind, a temper of the will, a quality of the imagination. War hat! already heen raging on the Continent of Europe for two years when Admiral Joy graduated from the Naval Academy with the class of 1916. He was assigned to the IJ. S. S.
