FOREWORD The Lucky Bag ' s primary function is to mirror the life at the United States Naval Academy. These pages present to the friends of the Navy and endear to our memories not only the official but also the more intimate phases of our undergraduate life. The Naval Academy of today is the same Naval Academy our seniors remember and love. Yet, in another sense, it is not the same. Today, it is a broader and better institution. The point of view of the Service has changed with the age of the Service, just as our point of view has changed with our years in the Service. This Lucky Bag is a record of the newer Naval Academy. It tells of the broader life and the better understanding between officers and midshipmen which mark the administration of the Superintendent, Rear Admiral Henry B. Wilson, and the Commandant, Captain Thomas R. Kurtz.
