J-9,4-1 Although a young team, the women's team had a very successful fall season, placing 15th out of 46 boats at the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta. Weather permitting, the team runs water practices at 0520 every morning. During the winter months, the team trains indoors at the boathouse. Workouts may involve time on the ergometers and in the i rowing tanks. The rigorous spring season was kicked off with the week r , H of spring break spent training at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. In the fall, the Crew team participates in 6-kilometer races, called head races. Army competes in approximately six or seven head 5 races in the fall. Once it gets too cold to row on the Hudson, the team moves indoors to its state-of-the-art boathouse. In preparation for the spring season, the team works out by lifting weights, running, rowing in the tanks and using the ergo meters. An intense week of training held over spring break kicks off the spring season. In the spring, Army competes in 2 kilometer Sprints, often excelling in such premier regattas as the Dad Vail and IRA. ,wail

The Army Cycling team took to the road and the track this year with a very young team and had some very strong finishes from many , iiyi . rty , i different riders. In the fall, the team sent riders out to Chicago to T compete at the Collegiate Track Cycling National Championships. C With the talent and motivation of the new riders, the team placed 8m g g overall. , .say , CCt'tr A iiii springgthe team took to the road of the Eastern Collegiate w-4533221 if f f V 't21 ri? MW Vw- T' i 'f My , M, ' ,W - C M Cycling Conference and placed a strong 61 place overall in the conference. A great show of force came from yearling Nic Shamrell who finished in the top three for the season in the lVlens D category. Other new riders this year included plebes Steve Pingree, Alex Krienke, and Derek Merkler, who all showed a great deal of potential by moving up to the Men's C category and finishing strong in several races. Two new women riders, yearling Aston Armstrong and plebe Courtney Rehwoldt, helped lead the team to the Collegiate Road National Championships in Lawrence, Kansas. There, the Army Cyclists braved the wind and the crashes to come away ranked 15th on the road for Dll schools. QQ. 4g:gP5- ZA
