Corps Squad SPORTS his year, members of the Army Rifle team continued to enjoy the rewards of their NCAA Championship. In the Fall semester, they were awarded Championship rings to commemorate the victory. Another high note was winning the President's Trophy in the All- Academy Rifle Match. This was the first win in the match for the Blach Knights in several years. ln the Spring semester, the team continued its success with a second place finish in the conference tournament. Shortly thereafter, Army defeated Navy in the Star Match for the first time in over ten years. For the team and coach- ing staff, this win was a huge accomplishment in the history of the program. The team went on to qualify for the NCAA champion- ships for the third year in a row. At the tournament, the team performed well among the extremely talented field of competition. Placing third overall, it was the second year in a row that the team has placed in the top three. After the match, five team members were awarded with All-American honors. This total matched the number of All-American honors that the team brought home the previous season. The 2006 season is considered to be one of the best in Army Rifle history. Firsties: Lucas Leinberger and Ian Smith. Cows: John Fiddes and Mike Jablonski Yearllngs Chris Abalo David Amiot, Matthew Hamilton, Brian Kem, and Kristina Wilkins Plebes Harry Gauthier Wesley Hess and Darrell Norman. Coaching Staff: Ron Wigger.

Since 1997, fthe first year Boxing became a club sportl, Army has had - 7 32All-Americans, finished 3rd nationally, and had five individual National 5 Champions: Dave Addams in 1998, Boyd Melson in 2001, Wes Baer ng in 2004, and Matt Pride and Wes Baer in 2005. Each year, male cadets i lilr rlt., , from all four classes compete for the 24 roster g VM? , y , ,,,,f 1 MM W ,W Xzflr, - spots authorized to the cadet boxing team at 12 different weight classes: 119, 125, 132, 139, 147, 156, 165, 175, 185, 195, and heavyweight fHVYjl.
