e soon found out that an army marches on its stomach and the welcome place of the entire maneuvers was the mess line. Our day was filled fith tactical problems and nioiht marches which served to acquaint us with the move- ments and problems of the army. At the end of the day. we found time to visit the small towns nearby and spend our small cash allowance. After the completion of the aeademie tlay. drill and parades occupied us for the afternoon, and later in the fall these were replaced with weapons instruction in which we met the Garand and machine un. Rallies, football anies, an l trips were the highlights of our first fall at the Academy.
