USMMA Spring Sports Men’s Baseball The Men’s Baseball closed out a remarkable season with a loss in the Skyline Championship game against St. Joseph’s of Long Island. The baseball team had the best season in years this season, and a handful of players were given honors. Junior Andrew Spinnenweber was selected for Third Team All-American by D3baseball.com, in addition to being named the Skyline Pitcher of the Year and earning a spot on the Skyline Conference First Team. Freshman Joe Raab was selected as the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year and was named Second Team ABCA All-Region and Third Team D3baseball.com All-Region. Senior Michael Barnes landed on the First Team All-Skyline Conference to finish out a record season. The Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field team had a very successful spring season, led by senior captains Alexandria Miller and Austin MacElrevcy. MacElrevey was a 2018 ECAC Outdoor Qualifier in the 1500m and 5000m, earning the Individual ECAC Championship in the 1500 meter run with his victory at the Championship Meet in mid-May. He was also the 2018 Individual Skyline Outdoor Champion in the 800m, 1500m and 5000m. The team competed in the inaugural Skyline Conference Outdoor Championship Meet and came in second place at the event with 163 points. On the final day of the ECAC Outdoor Championship Meet, senior Austin MacElrevey concluded his extraordinary career as the Individual Champion in the 1500 meter run. MacElrevey helped lead the Mariners to a 14th place team finish out of the 24 teams that scored at the event. Merchant Marine ended up with 26 points. Senior Dominique Pope won the long jump with an ECAC Qualifying Mark of 4.79 meters (15-08.75), while senior Alex Miller also hit an ECAC Mark by finishing first in the discus with a mark of 34.21 meters (112-03). The Mariners had a total of five first-place finishes: Pope in the long jump. Miller in the discus, Vandermeer in the 400 meter dash (1:03.82), Kelsey Ramirez in the 800 meter run (2:32.70) and the 4x400m relay team of Vandermeer, Reinebold, Miller and Sophia Tucker that won in 4:27.57. Senior Alex Miller represented the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women’s track field team at the 2018 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Outdoor Championship Meet on Thursday. She competed in one event, the discus throw. It was the remarkable senior's final event of her collegiate career. She leaves Kings Point with her name in the Academy's Track Field Record Books in six events (four in the indoor season and two in the outdoor season). 4 I
