KINGS POINT INTERCOLLEGIATE DINGHY TEAM Home of the Champions The Mariner Dinghy Team had a strong showing this year with the return of veteran skippers Matt Schubert 2 c and Stu Colie 3 c, both nationally recognized sailors, leading the double handed program. Helping these two out as crew were Janna Ott 3 c, Timberly Turner 3 c, Jared Leigh 3 c, and Kim Palmer 4 c. The Dinghy team was also given the strong addition of Dave Wright 4 c, an accomplished single and double handed sailor, who was just a few points shy of qualifying for the Single-Handed National Championship. Eric Matheson, Brian LaRue, Erica Weber, and team captain Eric Metz all provided strong leadership for the young team. Performance-wise the team did as well as anyone could have hoped for with a 2nd place overall at Kings Point in the annual War Memorial Regatta, 3rd place overall at the annual Nevin’s Trophy, and 2nd place overall at the Atlantic Coast Dinghy Championships. The fall season came to a close with the team being ranked 4lh in the country. The Kings Point Intercollegiate Dinghy Team is coached by new head coach Jay Kehoe and he is assisted by Meg Gaillard. TopLeft: Keeping in tight with the pack on a windy day is extremely important. Top Right: Keep the boat flat and level is a big skill the dinghy team leams. Luckily, for these boys it is only a practice day. Left: Dave Wright and Victoria Gigante showing the pure joy yhe team takes in sailing. 120
