WRESTLING The Mariners posted a 1-5 record in dual matches and finished eighth at the All-Services Wrestling Championships under the direction of first-year Head Coach Ken Willis. The team’s top wrestlers were senior Jon Low (at right), freshman Carl Roth, and Nathan Anderson. Low finished third in two major tourna- ments: the Springfield Invitational and the York Invitational. Roth posted a 10-8 individual record while Anderson proved to be the difference in the Mariner’s 22-21 victory over Montclair State, by scoring a major decision. At the Metropolitan Championships, the Mariners were ninth out of a ten-team field. Carl Roth turned in the best performance, finishing fourth in the competition. Low wrestled his way to fifth, along with Anderson. 169 I

GOLF (PGA) The Mariners finished the fall portion of the 1994 season with a third place finish at the All-Service Academy Golf Tournament. Kings Point trailed Army and Air Force. Senior Dan Frangiamore, sophomore Brad Miller, and freshman Doug Ingram were the team’s top players. I would like to thank Chris Brown for his time in collecting, organizing, and labeling various photos for this sports season. He also provided many of the write-ups used for each sport. It’s always nice to have a little help, it goes a long way... Thanks alot Chris! Keep up the good work. What does this have to do with golf? It’s the flag at the ninth hole on the Kings Point golf course. 168 All of the above pictures are proof of the strenous life the Golf team leads. The Alumni Tournament - Dallas, TX

The Mariners, which finished the year at 9-16, won more games than any Kings Point team in four years. Making this number even more impressive is the fact that the Mariners lost five games by four or less points, including back to back buzzer beating defeats to MIT (54-55) and Suffolk (68-69). “We are to the point where we are capable of beating anybody on any given night,” explains Coach Greer. “Our Achilles heel has been our play down the stretch. We are not making great decisions offensively and defensively, and it has cost us. But when you start three freshmen, you have to live through these mistakes. Everyone is committed to improving their game, and hopefully, the experi- ence our younger players earned this season will translate to victories next year.” Bradshaw and Coyne execute pressure defense!
