FOOTBALL When head Coach Charlie Pravata met with his team for the first time in July, he outlined three goals for team: win the Freedom Football Conference title, make the NCAA playoffs, and beat coach Guard. Through eight games. Kings Point was 6-2 and poised to achieve all three objectives. On the strength of wins over non- conference opponents Brockport State and Carnegie-Mellon and a perfect 4-0 mark in the FFC with wins over Norwich, WPI, Stony Brook, and Western Connecticut, the Mariners were ranked fifth in the NCAA East Region poll heading into the last game of the regular season. Kings Point’s path to the program’s first-ever Freedom Football Conference Title and trip to NCAA playoffs ran through an old rival, Coast Guard, in a televised game. Said Coach Pravata, “We have an outstanding group of young men. It was a great season for our program. Just being selected as one of the 16 teams to compete in the NCAA tournament was a great accomplishment for a school like ours, when you consider the high academic standards and the regimental requirements our kids have to fulfill. It’s a tribute to our players, our coaches, and our athletic administration. ” Brian Clark launches as rocket Vogt and Hansen prepare to decommisson K.P.
