I III «« « ' % I 24 There are a certain few officer, enlisted, and civilian personnel who by their mere presence year after year help establish the permanence and stability of the Academy. Their specialized jobs provide the nucleus for the multi-faceted or- ganization upon which the successful completion of the everyday routine proximately depends. It ' s a standing fact that the members of the Rifle team were the envy of the Corps. In what other ( sport could one exert himself so little and still get such good liberty? Under the able coaching of CDR. Ellis, Chief Gunners MocMitchel and Rod- man the squeeze-em-and pray boys enjoyed a good season. M.I.T. nosed them out in the New England League firing but they reversed the situ- ation in the National Intercollegiates firing a 1410, the highest the team has ever fired in a shoulder-to-shoulder match. That score was good enough to win them fifth place in the Nationals. John Mihibauer, Dick Morse, Charlie Glass, and Pinky Palmer as Manager were the firsties who wound up the season. Note: only the bilge boys come thru with national recognition for the Academy. LETTER WINNERS. Kneeling: Mgr. Palmer, Team Captain Mihibauer, W. Glass. Standing: Lorson, Ellis. Hill, C. J. Glass.
