You prohahly uiiuldn ' l believe it. but. thanks to our Lil-IIistory course, we also became voiced in Latin and Greek, with a literary knowledge of Plato ' s Republic, Aris- totle ' s Poetics and Walt Whitman. The aims of the course were indeed ambitious. As the first class to endure the course, we received both barrels. The course, during our Swab Year, consisted of a series of lectures delivered by Prof. Law- rence, Prof. Colby and Prof. Buron. There was much ado about the Grecian and Roman mas- ters and methods of Greek and Roman warfare. As armchair strategists we refought the battles at Thermopolae and Hannibal ' s Italian cam- paign. Later, we prayed for Charlemagne to come to Roland ' s rescue, toured the underground with Virgil and Dante, and finished the course with a whirlwind tour of American History. Prof. Colby.
