IN THE STACKS The honor roll student spends many hours in the libraryg studying, writing, learning. WHAT ONE KNOWS IS, IN YOUTH, OF LITTLE MOMENTg THEY KNOW ENOUGH WHO KNOW HOW TO LEARN. Henry Adams Few accomplishments give a young person greater satis- faction than being named to the honor roll. All the hours of study and concentration are rewarded when that special roll is posted and the student finds his or her name listed among the school's outstanding scholars. It is customarily the grade point average that determines selection on the honor roll. A student, therefore, must per- form consistently well in all his or her classes in order to earn that excellent grade point average. Only the well- rounded, highly-motivated student qualifies for inclusion in the honor roll. In order to receive honor roll recognition, a student has proven he has learned how to leam-the most important lesson received in junior high and high school years. The object of education is to prepare the young to educate them- selves throughout their lives. To that end, the system of honor roll encourages young people to explore and enjoy all disciplines of study. The United States Achievement Academy National Honor Roll Awards program allows these outstanding students to be recognized on a national level. These young people spend many hours and years contributing to their school. The pur- pose of the National Honor Roll Award is to pay tribute to the efforts of these excellent scholars. Recipients of this special honor are nominated by their schools' guidance counselors-professionals best able to choose those young people who have earned the recognition. The United States Achievement Academy joins the ranks of those professionals in congratulating National Honor Roll Award winners. Inclusion in the roster of nationwide honor roll students is an accomplishment of which the student striving for excellence can be very proud. Q l E l 1 TECHNOLOGY The modern student must learn to deal with machines as well as teachers if he or she is to enjoy honor roll success.
