Under the leadership of Matt Pisarclk, our Sophomore Class president, we sponsored our first dance, the Shamrock Shuffle to raise money for our Junior Prom. Our Junior year the class again elected Matt Pisarclk as president. This year was filled with many activities. Bake sales and dime dances were held to raise more funds for the Prom. Class rings were ordered and anxious students could hardly wait for Christmas when they would be delivered. The week of the prom finally arrived and plans for the decorations were carried out. Our efforts of raising money and carrying out our plans were finally rewarded when prom night arrived and many couples enjoyed themselves at the J'Song of the Islands. With Rodney Plowman as our president -we began our senior year. On September 20, 21, and 22Cover Studio took senior pictures. The yearbook and newspaper staffs published these important aspects of the senior year. As seniors, we were at the top of the ladder, but only for a short time, for next year a new senior class will follow. Graduation means many things, Including being at the bottom again. Each of us will go our separate ways and begin again. We hope that United High School means as much to the seniors after us as it did to us. This book is a mirror in which to remember those experiences. Underclassmen Anxiously the underclassmen of United High School wait for a chance to fill the shoes of the seniors. Just as previous classes have done, they arc taking another step up the ladder to seniority. They haven't thought much about the future yet, only of the experiences waiting for them as students. With avid anticipation these unde re lass me r wait for the moment when they can prove themselves better than their preceding class. As our student body Increases, we hope that they will remember to carry on the fine traditions of United High School. Picture: Carol Garthoff and Harry Weigel wishfully admire a faculty member's car. Its membership Is made up of students from all six grades who serve our school by active participation in the many clubs at United. The pictures in this section represent the students who edit our newspaper and yearbook, govern our student council, perform In our band, and make up the membership of all other clubs. Found here are pictures to bring back memories of May Day, the prom, our play, and the other club sponsored activities held throughout this school year. In our wide variety of clubs and activities, individuals have a chance to develop and show leadership In the field In which their interests lie. Officers of this years clubs are seated at the front. One of the reasons why our club program is so successful is because we choose our own clubs. At the beginning of the year we can suggest any new clubs we are interested in, and the student council votes on it. Such a new club is the Chess Club. Another reason contributing to the success of our club program is the readiness of students to Join. Few clubs have to recruit members. If you find your picture among the many in this section, you can consider yourself a true student at United High School, and not Just a member attending classes.
