o?o o?o oS?o CLASS HISTORY OF 1941 September 7, 1937, a memorable date to the students of Armagh High School, marked the entry of the class of '41. Scarcely had we 68 students acclimated ourselves until we achieved honors by winning the magazine salesmanship contest of 1937. Under the direction of our able instructor, Mr. J. Kyle Work, we energetic pupils set about to organize ourselves, Fri- day, October 1. Laverne Brehm was the Classes' choice for President, while Jennie Plowman was selected Vice-President, Ruth Sloughfy, Secre- taryg and George Troska, Treasurer. As the year sped on, the class dis- tinguished itself by sponsoring the first public pie social which proved to be quite a success. Time traveled swiftly, and soon we found ourselves parting for a short three month vacation. Upon reassembling in the fall, the class, under the sponsorship of Miss Katherine Mellinger, selected Harold Wakefield, President 3 Jennie Plow- man, Vice-Presidentg Ronald Mathews, Secretary and George Troska, Treasurer. The class energetically set about to select our class colors, and class design, motto and slogan, after a Freshman-Sophomore Party had been sponsored. The balance of the year traveled fast, indeed, for before we realized it, we again separated for our summer vacation. We came back refreshed and immediately started work on the Junior Play Almost Eighteen, which was presented November 13-14, 1939. This took place after we had selected James Lloyd as our President, Jennie Plowman, Vice-President: Ruth Sloughfy, Secretary and George Troska, Treasurer. Soon after Christmas we began the task of selecting class rings. After considerable controversy the Bastian Streamliner was chosen. We next took upon ourselves the task of sponsoring the Junior-Senior Banquet, which was held at Rustic Lodge May 4, 1941. It was not long 'till the term came to a close and we bid farewell 'till autumn. As we, fnow seniorsj, reassembled, we re-elected James Lloyd, Presi- dent, Jennie Plowman, Vice-President, Ruth Sloughfy, Secretary, and George Troska, Treasurer. A short time after his election, James moved from our district and Jennie therefore assumed his ofiice, and Helen Mc- Laughlin was elected vice-president. Scarcely had we reorganized 'till we planned sponsoring our Senior Play, Too Many Husbands , which was presented November 14-15, 1940. We next broke the ice by sponsoring a first roller skating party ever held by an Armagh Class after sponsoring a second skating party, March 6, we awoke to find our final semester rapidly concluding. As we view the future we find our baccalaureate ser- vices scheduled for Sunday, May 25, followed by the commencement exer- cises, the climax of our scholastic careers, will occur May 29. And so concludes the scholastic history of a class, who Qin the words of Caesarj has come, has seen and has conquered. fAt least we think so.J
