atm Sugarloaf Mountain Amphitheatre hosts the epic outdoor drama 6'Tecumseh,' which tells one of the greatest stories ever of our area's historical past. It tells of the bitter struggle between the Shawnee Indian and the white man, Tecumseh being the leader of the mighty Shawnee and William Henry Harrison speaker for the white man. All of this took place around the Indian Village Chahlagawatha better known to us as our own city, Chillicothe. The ancient mounds of Mound City located in our own school district, tell a great story. They tell of the life of the Adena and Hopewell cultures. Both of these tribes were of the early prehistoric era. There is no written his- tory of these peoples but much has been learned from studying these burial grounds. Many reminders of these prehistoric people can be viewed at the small museum located at Mound City. Mound City is situated along the banks of the Scioto River. The Scioto River plays a big role in our city's past. Early settlers and Indians lived off this river. The early Shawnee village of Chala- gawatha was also located on the Scioto.
