D0 YOUKNOW THE REAL MEANING OF THANKSGIVING Thanksgiving is a very special day celebrated by almost everyone in this country. Thanksgiving originally marked the beginning of a new and free country, America. Today it means being with your family and sharing your feelings. And, to many school kids, it means getting out of school for a few days. This year at Unioto the J .C.L., Junior Classical League, made up food baskets for the needy and delivered the baskets to their homes. And, as usual, at this time of year, you could smell the good aroma of turkey, dressing, and all the other goodies coming from the Home Ec. room. The Senior and Junior girls were at it again with one of their holiday dinners, and this one, like all the others, was scrumptious. There werenlt very many special decorations at the school this year, but as usual some real turkeys were running around the halls!! All in all it was a good Thanksgiving for all Uniotoans.

WHA TDO YOU THINK OF WHEN YOU THINK- JUNIOR HIGH?v Whenever you thought of Junior High in the last few years, the first words that came to your mind were little, shy, kids, twerps - any words that would put them down, But no longer does the Junior High fit these descriptions. It used to be that a Junior higher would shy away from the upperclassmen and literally duck when he saw one of his superiors, coming down the hall. Today you will be surprised to see the Junior High students taking up for them- selves and doing more or less as they please, not being afraid of upperclassmen any- more. In fact, when the bell rings to change classes, the school is overcome by little peo- plef' The busy feet shuffling the halls, the sound of papers being rustled into place, the banging of locker doors, the squealing, screaming, strident voices, the pushing and shoving, are all part of the seventh and eighth grade scene. Classes are more varied these days for our younger students. Math, science, art, music, social studies, English, health, physical ed., home ec, and shop are all offered these days. Result: Jr. Hi is more excited about education. So, if you visit the halls of Unioto and see many kids hurrying to class, hurrying to lunch, hurrying to after school activities, and you get the feeling itls a world of very young youth, just keep in mind these folks make up Jr. Hi. They are growing and maturing to meet the world of adulthood, work, responsibility, hatred, love, and success.
