Senior History On September 7, 1948, forty-three Freshmen assembled in the Study Hall of Unionville High School to continue up the ladder of education. A class meeting was held with the aid of our class advisor, Mr. Crawford. Elected as our first officers were: Larry Germain, President; Duane Guenther, Vice-President; Nancy Spannagel, Secretary; Raymond Baur, Treasurer. When we returned as Sophomore, our class had decreased to forty-two. Somehow the top seemed closer. We elected the following officers: Raymond Baur, President; Donald Jahr, Vice-president; Christine Crawford, Secretary; Jack Hofmeister, Treasurer. Miss Fawn was our class advisor. Forty-two Juniors returned the following year. Now we just needed a few more guided steps to reach the top of that ladder. With Mr. Laundra as our class advisor, we elected as our officers: Raymond Baur, President; Janet Bosley, Vice-president; Betty Niedrich, Secretary; Jack Hofmeister, Treasurer. On April 6, 1951, we presented a three act comedy entitled, Birds of a Feather. Not only was our play a success, but an experience for our aspiring actors and actresses. On May 25, 1951, we held a Junior-Senior Prom, the first at Unionville for some time. Both classes enthusiastically participated to make it one of the standout events of the year. Now, at last, the top was very close. We were grateful to our teachers for their aid in helping us to achieve so much in our last three years. The following class officers, with the help of Mr. Cartwright, led our class of forty Seniors through our last year here: Raymond Baur, President; Jo Ann Fischer, Vice President; Lois Guerrero, Secretary; Jack Hofmeister, Treasurer. To raise money for our Senior trip to Washington, D.C., which took place in May, we produced our Senior play, a three-act comedy entitled, No Bride for the Groom. We also sold Christmas and all occasion cards, gave bake sales, and sold refreshments at the annual F.F. A. and F.H. A. Fair and at the ball games. We looked forward to working with the Juniors on the Junior-Senior Prom in the late spring. And now we have reached the top rung of our first ladder of education. There will be others to climb and we will do our best to reach the top. Again, we are thankful to all our teachers who with their guidance, made our graduation possible. Good luck to the Seniors of next year, and may they have as much fun as we have had in our last year at U.H.S. We will surely miss it. 12
