Assisting Dr. Hyran Barefoot was Union ' s Dr. John Adams. Pam Privett was only a freshman, but she already had a good idea of what was needed for dorm life.

Hello - Goodbye Registration brings in the ap- prehensive faces of freshmen and graduation sends off the even more apprehensive faces of seniors. A record number of students came and left Union in 1983. The largest graduating class ever was followed by the largest enrollment ever in the fall. Each student is a part of the whole that is Union. Our individual personali- ties comprise the personality of our school. Students not only give to Union, they receive from it. Each of us is changed by and grows from our time here. Every student can contribute, since Union changes and grows with each class. Union ' s largest nursing class, more than 80, graduated in 1983. Freshman Doug Watts brought a few touches of home to Union ' s dorms. Following Dad ' s footsteps is easier when Dad carries the load. Graduate Karen Campbell received the Academic Excellence Award in Journalism from Mrs. Betty Foellinger. Karen also was awarded the Academic Achievement award (highest GPA) and the Tigrett Medal at graduation; the first student to win both graduation honors.
