Registration and Moving In Means Hugs, Helios and Few Hassles Hi! How was your summer? Where do you live on campus? What ' s your major? Try to get that class, I passed it! Etc., etc., etc. The familiar lingo of registration and moving in was noted by 1,374 students enrolled this fall at Union. This is the first year that all residents are housed on the campus. The addition of 60 additional spaces allowed Union to maintain last year ' s student population. The freshmen once again had the opportunity to get acquainted with college life a little earlier by attending orientation. The welcome parties provided the upperclassmen the neces- sary time to catch up and when classes finally got underway the new friend- ships offered the needed comfort and security with understanding smiles.

263 Graduates Say Good-bye To Union Two hundred and sixty-three students waited four years (and in some instances even longer) for that May day, for that brief moment with Dr. Craig, and finally for that diploma! A total of 239 May graduates and 24 July graduates were honored during the morning Baccalaureate service, afternoon reception and evening commencement program on May 29. Twenty-tw o nurses were represented in the third class to be graduated from the Bachelor of Science nursing program, nearly double last year ' s number. Dr. Chester Swor, retired Missis- sippi College administrator, delivered the monning Baccalaureate sermon. Rev. Donald Wildmon, United Meth- odist minister and founder of the National Federation for Decency, the commencement addressed audience. The Highest Academic Achievement Award was presented to Keith McClain for having the highest G.P.A., 3.97. Elizabeth Ann Buntin received the Elizabeth Tigrett Medal for excellence in citizenship, char- acter, leadership, scholarship and school service. All in all, it was a day to remember. . Rev. Wildmon challenged the class to maintain strength of character in a changing world.

Reception Opens Year With Style Curiosity forces you back to your mailbox for the third time that day, and your efforts are rewarded. The invita- tion to the President ' s Reception was there to announce the annual event. The President ' s Reception allows the students the opportunity each year to meet the faculty, administration, staff. and Dr. Robert Craig in a pleasant but formal setting. It ' s a chance to see another side of the people we think we know so well. This marked Dr. and Mrs. Craig ' s fifteenth year at Union, and the couple greeted the students with their usual ease and charm. The cafeteria was transformed with the tables of delicious food and punch and the atmosphere produced by students in formal attire. The reception marks just another example of Union ' s attempts to develop every aspect of the students ' lives.
