First Graduation Held at New Campus The beginning of Union ' s educational history at the new campus was seen Saturday, May 29, 1976, when 209 became the first class to graduate from the 45 By-pass location. Different individuals were given honors and three students received special recognition. Donna McDowell received the Highest Academic Achievement Award as the spring graduate with the highest grade point average. Nina Lee Braden received the Tigrett Medal and Joyce Falcinelli was awarded the Union University Honor Award. Honorary degrees given were: Teddy H. Evans and H. K. Sorrell, who received Doctor of Divinity degrees. Jeannette Cliff George was the speaker for the first graduation ceremonies held on Union ' s new campus. Dr. Landrum Leavell delivered the Baccalaureate address. Graduates think back on the last four years.

S.B.C. Presidents Are Honored with Corridor Union honored seven former students and trustees who have served as president of t he Southern Baptist Convention with the formal dedication of a 600-foot Southern Baptist Convention Presidents ' Corridor last fall. Men honored during the festivities at the college included: Dr. Wayne Dehoney, Dr. M. E. Dodd. Dr. J. D. Grey. Dr. Robert G. Lee, Dr. H. Franklin Paschall, Dr. Ramsey Pollard, and Dr. James L. Sullivan. Immediately following the service, the corridor was dedicated by unveil- ing the portraits of the former presidents.
