CLASS PROPHECY It has been ten years now smce I have seen any of my classmates of 49 so me myself and I thought we would take a tmp to a bug crty and boarded our tram early one mornmg nal and as we looked up we saw on another trxp she plans to travel city see lf we could locate some of our frxends We decxded to travel by tram. We as we wanted to get an early start We were hurrying through the tram terrnr MARY JO SUMMY hurrymg by with her luggage As usual she was off around the world After exchanglng a few words wlth her we left for the blg The tram moved slowly out of the statron and we were on our way We were on the tram several hours when the tram stopped m a small town for some repalrs on the engme We took thxs trme to exerclse our legs We got off the tram and dxscovered we were ln a small country commumty outsxde the c1ty l1m1ts and a beautlful country lt was there were some mce farms m the town all owned by wealthy farmers We found out that JUNIOR WICKE BILLY WIDMEYER EMMETT WILLIAMS and EUGENE PRATHER were owners of these enormous farms After talkmg wxth them awhlle we b1d them good bye wlth a promxse to spend summer vacatxon on thexr farms We boarded the tram once more and were agam on our way It was about noon when we reached our destx nation m the big city and we suddenly found we were hungry We headed for the nearest dmmg room As we entered the dmmg room we notlced our old friend GORDON SMITH Gordon told us he was a vetermarlan 1n the cxty and was takmg time off from hrs work for a bxte to eat he mvxted us to have lunch wrth hxm After lunch we We dec1ded smce thxs was such a large cxty that we would go to all the 1mportant places As we strolled down the street we notxced several large factones and decrded to vxsxt them As we stepped mto the door we notxced the office room we opened the door and we saw four girls as busy as bees They looked up as we entered and xt was none other than MARGARET SHEERWOOD BETTY ECKERLE IRENE BRADBURY and CHAR LOTTE CAMP they were domg typlng and other ofnce work We dldnt wxsh to keep them from therr work so we saxd good bye and went to another sectxon of the factory We were hurrymg down the hall when we notlced DICK FELTMAN and KAYE DON BOWERS They are chemxcal engineers now and they sand they enjoyed thexr work very much They told us where we mlght find some more of our classmates so we saxd so long and left The next xmportant place on our 11st was the cxty hospltal we mlght as well see xt as xt IS an 1mportant place m the clty As we entered the hospltal we were greeted by the head nurse and we asked her lf we mlght look around We were rushing down the corrldor when we saw four lovely ladies rn whxte we thought they looked fa mrllar and sure enough xt was WANDA REED MARIETTA GUNDLER LOIS ANN FIELD and JUANITA ALLEN They are prominent nurses now and lovmg every mxnute of rt After we talked awhlle we said we must see the rest of the clty so we sald good bye and contmued on our way We were just about to go mto another blg bulldmg when we saw a row of lovely new homes we just had to stop and gaze at them The door of one of the lovely houses opened and someone stepped out we turned around and there was JESSIE NEUHAUS. JSSSIC IS marrxed now and IS the mxstress of her new home, and also the mother ' ! 9 ! ! 7 ' - 7 3 ' I ' 1 5 . . of two darlmg chxldren After JCSSIG showed us through her new home we bld her farewell and sald we must hurry as It was gettmg late We were Just startmg up Mam Street when we saw 'mother one of our classmates JEAN WEBB She was on her way to give some household advlce to a new housew1fe She makes a very good Home Demonstratxon Agent Jean explamed about her work and we sald good bye and contlnued We stopped at the next grocery store just to look around and standmg behmd the counter was GENE REEVES He IS the owner of a cham of grocery stores We stopped to talk to Gene and he told us that BILLY MARSH was out of town on a brick laymg Job and that PAUL ALLEN was up to hls neck ln Secret Service work. As we left the store we found that xt was m1d afternoon and we thought we mlght relax by takmg m a movxe We headed for the nearest theatre and saw that there would not be a movle thxs afternoon but mstead a stage performance The place was packed but we found a few seats nn the back When the curtam went up a very hand some smger stepped out and guess who xt was--you guessed lt' It was GORDON STOUT He xs a famous smger Now let me see have we seen everythmg9 It seems as though we re leavmg somethmg out Oh yes' the school we mustnt forget the school after all we went to school too you know So we headed for the blg red school house We were very surpr1sed to find that some of our classmates were teachmg at thxs school ERNIE WILLIAMS coach of the basketball team that hasnt lost a game GLADYS HARDING teachmg elementary Physical Ed LORAINE DICK, teachmg hxgh school Physlcal Ed PATTY DAVIS head of the Engllsh department They say they are one bxg happy famxly We were about to brmg our Journey to an end when we stopped to thmk. Everyone m the class was not accounted for there was one more Oh yes' PAULINE GREGORY' By look1ng1n the telephone dxrectory we found Paulme was the owner of her own beauty salon Thus lindmg everyone of our former classmates and seelng they were well and prosperous we head for the tram our Journey completed. We retmred to bed wxth our mmds at rest and dreammg of the happy days of '49 . . , , , now and travels around to all the theatres.
