Class History The above picture shows the Senior class of 1961 as a group of eager to learn'1 first graders. But only nine members Uohn Hiigli, Gary Barbkneckr, Randy Hall, Jerry Beehler. Mike Heironimus, Judy Flasch. Lois McCarty. Betty Merts, Claude Amesi of this first grade class of 1949 remain to graduate. Our first six years were spent learning the three R's. accompanied by numerous do and don't lextures. Mrs. Bailey. as our first grade teacher, kept us in line with her ruler. For the sec- ond grade we were divided into two groups. One group was taught by Mrs, Orders, the other by Mrs, Stoltz. Mrs. Stipp had our reunited class for our third year and Mrs. Pauley was our teach- er for the fourth and fifth gradesr Mr. Graffis and our sixth grade days bring back memories of our baseball team and Judy and Kay, our star third baseman and pitcher, respectively. As we entered the seventh grade. we were permitted to be upstairs with the big kids and thus started our first year of having a different teacher for every class Also came a series of activ- ities which included everything that classes do to make money - - - to everything classes do to spend the money they make. The three highlights of our high school career, that we feel are worth mentioning, are our jun- ior-senior prom, our senior play. and graduation. Our class had the privilege of being the first to take part in a consolidated prom. We had a great deal of fun preparing for and participating in our prom along with the other juniors and seniors from Hanna and Clinton. Our play. a three-act farce comedy entitled Take it Easy was directed by Mr. Richard Cop- pens. Mr. Coppens was a very patient and talented director and thanks to him our play which proved to be a very enjoyable. delightful, but sometimes frightful experiencey was. we think, a great success, As this year's annual goes to press and the day of graduation approaches, we the Senior Class of 1961 would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to our teachers and our parents for their understanding and patience in guiding us through twelve of the most important years of our lives,
