7!w Zlldifcal .29 BASKETBALL I Even though the Boys' Basketball Team did not reach the peak as cham- pions this year, they did enjoy a fairly successful season. With only two lettermen, Gerald Reid and Robert Whitaker returning as a nucleus the team got off to a poor start by losing their first tive games. It was abourt this time the best combination games were victories and the team played good ball the rest of the season with a final record of seven wins and eleven losses. Robert Whitaker, long shot artist and Marhl Flickinger, rangy sophomore, held down the guard positionsg Earl Delaong, lanky senior and Bob McCoy, small and fast, played at forwards. Beryl Grubaugh, Eugene Taylor, Donald Hoblet. and Ronald Rase saw much action and along with Snake Cook made up the first ten. Gerald Reid and Earl DeLong were elected captains at the close of last season. Scoring honors for the year went to Reid with a total of 150 points. He was closely followed by DeLong with 124, Whitaker with 122 and McCoy with 110. At the tournament our first game was with Willshire. We lost this game and because of the double elimination we played Middle Point. Although we won from Middle Point we were defeated by Hoaglin-Jackson. This put us out of the tournament. Although we lose valuable material in our seniors we hope for a good season next year by our seasoned underclassinen. I.0ilg'll1' Standing W L Middle Point . . . .
