14 '7Ae Zddafcd Looking Through the Crystal Ball Sitting in the parlor of my ranch house I decided to look into my make believe crystal ball and see if I could pick up the: trail of the classmates of my school days. At first all was hazy and dark but at last I could see a huge motor truck roaring along the road with Fred Ehman at the controls delivering some cattle to the ranch of Senator Dale McOmber. Then the scene changed to a clean hospital in Det.roit where Violet Fiock, a nurse, was caring for Ernie Rickard, a mechanic at Henry Foird's plant, who was injured when an airplane piloted by Eugene Taylor accident- ly hit him in a freak accident. Neva Mae Rice, Ernie's fiance, was hysteric- ally standing hy. Finally familiar scenes came across the hazy crystal and I see Earl De- Long teaching Vocational Agriculture and Catherine Hunter teaching Home Economics at dear old Union. As the scene shifts again I see a neatly decorated beauty salon in Con- voy with Eleanor Dumar and Alice Ehman working feverishly to get Mildred Thompsoirs hair fixed in time for her wedding to Lesrter Goings, a Master Farmer. Suddenly the vision fades and then the fog lifts and I see Betty Mace, an attractive waitress, in a clean and prosperous looking restaurant waiting upon Joann Dixon, a prominent actress from Hollywood. Now the scene changes to ther dug-outs of the Toledo Mud Hens where Robert Whitaker, a big league pitcher, is giving advice to Gerald' Reid and his boys who are seeking the National Baseball Championship. And now everything goes black and grows hazy but those memories of my pals and classmates of Union will always linger with me. By Ben Hoblet
