WILDCAT Gradually the scene changes revealing Dorothy in a small, attractive, white house in California, greeting Phoebe McCandlish. The former Miss Mason listens in delight as Phoebe enthusiastically tells of her wedding plans. Now everything is dark but there in the greyness, I see Lindsay Mc- Candlish developing pictures. He has in his hand a picture of Willard Dougal, the man who made headlines hy inventing a new type engine. His picture will be in the San Francisco Daily Times, with details of the invention. Suddenly I awoke with a start to find it all a dream! Nevertheless, I felt somewhat cheered and comforted as I picked up the book where it had dropped on the floor and prepared to sleep in bed for the remaining few hours of the night. WILDCAT VISICNS IN A DREAM Resting before the fireplace in my comfortable, cozy room, I felt quite elated at having been promoted to the job of being supervisor of the Cincin- nati playgrounds, yet a feeling of loneliness for the sight of my classmates crept over me. Knowing that I couldnt go to see them, however, I picked up a popular book hoping that reading would divert my mind, but soon drowsi- ness overtook me and I wa.s in a peaceful slumber dreaming of my friends. At first all was hazy and dark but out o-f dimness came a silver object. It was a large airliner piloted by Vondale Taylor and in the cabin, making everyone cheerful and comfortable, was Juanita Baer, airline hostess. I watched the plane descend upon a spacious field and there by the corral stood Charles Hargesheimer, owner of the famous CZ ranch in Colorado, waiting for Earl Speelman, a special political gfuest, to get off the plane. For a moment the picture grew ha.zy and shifting, then I saw Miriam working in a neatly decorated beauty salon in Columbus. She is calling the long distance operator, Grace Murphy, for a connection with New York. Evidently she wishes to speak to Miss Virginia Stripe, a distinguished dramatic teacher. The picture blots out, but here's a new one exposing Robert Smith as he leaves his office at the Smith-Hughes olfice in Washington, D. C. to catch a train for Fort Wayne, Indiana. He is to speak at a farmers' meeting and among those to hear his advice will be Barney Short, prominent farmer, also Karl Laemmle, who is specializing in hybrid s.eed corn. As the scene shifts again, I see a school house. Sure-it is dear old Union, even though it is enlarged and improved. In a well equipped Home Econom- ic's room I hear Miss Mary Davis telling her pupils that next week they will have a special guest, Maryellen Knerr, to give them information on dietetics, as she is a dietician in the Flower Hospital in Toledo. Mildred Basil is a capable nurse at the same hospital. Fog and blackness blot out the picture and in its place, I see a vision of Gene Hoaglin giving his baseball team some final advice before playing the decisive game of the season. His Indians are playing the Giants before a large audience in Detroit. Little does he realize that Don Knerr, mathematics teacher and basketball coach at Grover Hill, will be there to see his class- mate once again.

WILDCAT JUNIOR BRGADCAST Class Flower, American Rose Class Colors, Red and Silver Motto, Building for Character not for Fame Station J. R. C. broadcasting on a frequency of 1940 kilocycles, presents for your entertainment a series of News Chats, originating in the studios. of Union High School. Announcing this program for our genial sponsor Mr. Fasig, is none other than President Dale McOmber, assisted by Vice President Mildred Thompson, Secretary Eleanor Dumar, and Treasurer Gerald Reid. Miss Thompson now takes you behind the scenes in Junior life, Miss Thompson! Greetings, Annual listeners! Since my last chat with you our number has decreased from seventeen to sixteen. Early in the fall We opened our social season with a party, later a Christmas party, and then in March the graceful girls with the gallant lads in the class for partners took to the floor of the Y. W. C. A., on skates. What parties do to finances is a long story. To help finance the Junior- Senior banquet honoring the no-ble Seniors, we sold pop-corn at the basket- ball games. We wish to thank our patrons. Late in January we searched for a memento which might, in years to come remind us of our successful broadcast. At last a gracefully designed ring, bearing the station of our broadcast, U. H. S., was selected and purch- ased by every member. Our greatest thrill was the presentation of This Night Beware, includ- ing a cast of 12 characters. In addition we all participated in various activi- ties, sports, fellowship, music, and faced them bravely. Next year listen in again-same time, same station-for the latest bulletin of Junior life. Mildred Thompson
