Where are we going? ... Someone please show us the way ... We need the directions to find our beginning ... We asked for a fun-filled school life. In return we receive many enjoyable and memorable ex- periences. School days ... as the song says, “Those wonderful golden rule days. When decisions were made for us. We didn't have to take control of our lives. But the time is upon us when we must leave these days behind. We now have to take care of ourselves. There isn't anyone else who will Decisions must be made by you — and you alone. It may seem a little scary, but really, wasn't this why we were in school in the first place? To be taught to take care of ourselves. To be brought up to be the leaders of tomorrow. Yes, if you really think about it, that is the purpose of our school years. And for most of us, that is what school does for us. If it didn't, our world would be in sad shape. Yes, we are the leaders of tomorrow. And the sooner we realize this, the better things will become for all of us. Although Commencement means the end of the role we played in our high school years, it also means the birth of a new and exciting life ahead. For it is from the patience and understanding that was delivered unto each of us that directs us to the golden path of success. Without these directions the fulfillment of our dreams would be lost forever. As we crowd our lives with new experiences, we tend to let the old ones slip away. But these memories can be retained by the frequent glance of our school years through the magic window of time - our Utopian. As the pages are turned, you will remember the good times along with the bad times, as well as the new faces along with the old faces that you had encountered on your many excursions in school. You can proudly say, I was part of the excitement and fun of the Class of '79. To be a part of something is very important to everyone and it is a necessity to have a feeling of accomplishment — to know that you have done your best throughout your school years. During these times we tend to let our thoughts roam the past until we reach a place in time we feel secure. Hence, we soon find ourselves back at the beginning, with only our friends and ambitions ahead of us ... 4
