Every morning for six years you skip happily through the glass doors, look around the crowded halls, and somehow you always end up at the cafeteria table where your friends are waiting. OR ... you slump dejectedly through the doors on aching feet, with sleep swollen eyes, and low spirits, practically crawling in misery to your friends. You stand with them for a few minutes, talking about what happened the night before or the sad fact that nothing did happen. How many mornings do we complete this exact routine, with a few variations? About 720 by the time you're a sophmore, and 1,080 when you're a senior; such a large number of mornings, and yet they pass by so swiftly. Those days in |r. High when you're not so burden with the responsibilities you can laugh and scream with uninhibited loudness among your friends. It's amazing whats considered so important at this age: Your tablets and notebooks, your senior idols, and candy and gum which remain a top priority until you graduate. In Tenth grade you get a little taste of senior high status. The guys become eligible for varsity teams and many girls survive the hysterical agony of teenette initiation You trv to ignore the Ir. High kids as you begin to talk more naturally with the teachers, elect class officers, and join Sr. High clubs. The sophmore class has a wonderous event, the sophmore party. There are records to dance to, and yet, with the exception of a few braver students, do you? You play games in the gym, devour refreshments, and tear down any decorations to hold as keepsakes. RAs Juniors, your satisfyingly in the middle of things. It is your classes responsi- bility to organize the Prom and to sell magazines to raise money. Most luniors try to get all their credits accumulated in their lunior year so that they can relax in their Senioi year, but seldom do. You try to get in the way of a yearbook photographer, 1 parties m class for everv occasion it seems like you've iust become a lunior but before you know it the year is over and you realize there is only one more year left. Then with surprising suddenness you're on the top, you're the big decision-makers, you're the SENIORS. You find it somewhat hard to believe as you plunge into more activities and responsibilities that ever before. You vote for class colors, class trip, and class personalities. There are deadlines to meet for graduation pictures, term paper deadlines, and possible college applications. It seems like you just get started and before you know it you're attending events such as Baccalaureate, Com- mencement, and The All Night Parts Every move you make reminds you that you are a part of a class that wouldn’t be quite the same without the touch your After graduation each of you may go your own way, into whatever your years at Union have best prepared you for. But no matter how far your interests may take you, you will remain together as the Class of '78 ... forever. 4
