The production consisted of three one-act plays which provided entertainment for everyone. The first play was The Death of the Hired Man. It had a melancholy mood and focused its action around the porch of a farmhouse in the Midwest. The second Egad! What a Cad! provided the comedy of the evening. The living room of the Greystones' New York mansion created the scene. The third and last play was The Lottery. This play was a very dramatic production which had an unusual ending. Its setting was the village green of a small town. The idea of the three one- act productions was to provide something for everyone and its purpose was well accomplished. The Death of the Hired Man adapted by Jay Gould It' almost past haying time. An Evening The director of the sequel was Mr. Robert Curry, the junior English teacher. The next twelve years were to provide us the knowledge and background needed to assure success in our world. The first eight years passed quickly along with the chess tournaments, squirt gun battles, and the games of Fox- Release-the-Den. We all came together, finally, in our freshman year, from many schools to begin the last four and most important and busy years of our school life at Union High. We may have been green freshmen, but we were the Seniors of the junior high wing! This year passed very quickly and we were thrown into the turmoil of activities and clubs as still-green sophomores. As sophomores, we elected officers to lead us. They were President Joe Conti, Vice-President Don Morgan, Secretary Chris Roussos, and Treasurer Michele Covelli. The class sold Christmas candy to help finance our successful junior year. At the beginning of our junior year, the following were elected as class officers: Frank Verdi, president, John Fruit, vice-president, Larry Kelso, secretary, and Joanne Parillo, treasurer. Again we became salesmen and converged upon the citizens of our community with magazines to further pad our budget for the prom. With profits from our sales and projects of the last two years, the class of '69 proudly presented the prom, Gone With the Wind. This turned out, of course, to be one of the most successful and prettiest proms yet. The gym was decorated in the mode of a Southern plantation. We then climbed to the last rung of the ladder with the start of our senior year. Officers for this year were Les Shannon, president, John Fruit, vice-president. Bob Michaelangelo, secretary, and Rocky Piscuineri, treasurer. Senioritis set in early and students and teachers alike realized this too late. Despite the disease, most of us still remained together, looking forward to that day in June. With constant pushing from our advisors, we had a successful style show to help finance our class trip to Detroit and Dearborn, Michigan, and Windsor, Canada. On June 1, Baccalaureate was held in the school auditorium. Finally, June 5 arrived! One hundred and forty-six solemn seniors donned caps and gowns for the last time at Union High. Commencement practice had been real fun and games, but this was the real thing. Many of us left with tears in our eyes, tears not only for happiness, but also for sorrow. Leaving Union on that June evening was really great, after twelve years. But for most of us, even though we'll soon be starting new jobs and friendships, will never forget the good and bad times, and good and bad friendships cultivated here, or all the memories at Union. And so, friends, we leave you at the end of this chapter in the life of the class of '69, and we hope the proceeding chapters are just as great and memorable with many more happy endings. 110 Senior Trip After breakfasting in Cleveland, we arrived in Dearborn, Michigan, Here we visited the Henry Ford Museum antique cars, trains, and planes everywhere! (Anyone re- member those strange little voices from those magic boxes?) Onward Class of '69 to the Ford Steel (dig those crazy fur- naces!!!) ond Assembly Plants. (Pick a Mustang!) Greenfield Village was next on the agenda. This was a replica of the village where Henry Ford was born. (Did ya see the letter Wilbur wrote to Iris!?!) We galloped into Canada for our evening meal. It's a good thing Judy had her passport. On the way home, we went under water; and back to good ole U.H.S. at 1:00 a.m. with no casualties! A “good trip was had by the '69ers. I see the light! Where's Clyde? Attack Gentle Ben Friends We, the Class of '69, wish to extend an honest thanks to our six chaperons, with- out whom our trip would not hove been possible. Thanks again to Mr. Mrs. Socrates Roussos, Miss Carrie Mae Rentz, Mr. Paul Row- land, Mrs. Lydia Gatewood, and Mr. Raymond Zarlengo. I r Cousin It What do yo think this is . . .a love-in?
