Utopian 1958 As the curtain slowly descends upon another drama in the history of Union High School, a host of memories is forever em- bedded in the hearts of the performers. Those of us for whom it is the final per- formance are prepared to take our positions in modem society. We are grateful to our teachers and our administrators. Gratitude is extended to our parents and to the com- munity for the opportunities accorded us. Last but not least, we want to thank Mr. Was sum, our photographer, without whose help this book would not have been possible. To these friends we say, Relive with us through the ' 58 Utopian, our final drama. Foreword Mr. Clayton Houk, Elementary Principal Seated left to right: P.Grittie, F.Vanatten. F.Zajac. E. Our short three year trek began in 1955. Our Sophomore advisors were: Mr. Boggs, Miss Hammerstrom, Mr. Keil, and Mrs. Shields. At our first class meeting we elected the officers to guide us through the year. The officers were: Bob Houk, Presi- dent; Tom Hixon, Vice-President; Dave Seamans, Treasurer; and Sandy Eppinger, Secretary. We sponsored a successful sale of candy at Christmas time. The biggest event of the Sophomore year was our St. Patrick Day Dance which was held in the Memorial School. As Juniors we were under the capable guidance of Mr. King, Mrs. McChesney, Mr. Venturella, and Mrs. Hartford. These advis- ors called a class meeting early in the year, and we elected the following officers: George McBride; President; Dave Seamans, Vice- President; Johna Plano, Treasurer; Sandy Ep- pinger, Secretary. Miss Rentz, Mrs. Hough, Mrs. Fox and Mr. Roussos Senior Advisor Senior Officers In October of our Junior year we ordered our class rings and we received them in December. Our dance of the year was the Harvest Moon which was held in November. The king and queen were Tom Hixon and Eleanor Hink. We sold Easter candy which helped us to defray expenses. The Junior- Senior Prom was given for the Seniors in May at the Cathedral Building in New Castle. When we became Seniors, under the su- pervision of Miss Rentz, Mrs. Hough, Mrs. Fox and Mr. Roussos, we had a very profit- able year. We elected Dave Seamans as President of our class; Larry Powell as Vice-President; Betty Dexter as Secretary, and Johna Plano as Treasurer. In January we held our class dance. We also had a few money raising projects. One of the real highlights of the year was the Junior-Senior Prom held in May. As a finale to our high school activities came Baccalaureate and Commencement Services held in the later part of May. We left Union with fond memories and sad regrets that it had ended all too soon. Johna Plano, Treasurer, Betty Dexter, Secretary, Larry Powell, Vice-President, Dave Seamans, President. 12 PATRICIA AKSTULEWICZ PATTY” DALE ANDERSON ANDY LILLIAN ASSID LILI CORRINE BIDDLE CORRINE THOMAS I i RANDALL DALE BROWN BROWNIE THOMAS A.
