'r: We, the members of the yearbook staff, in presenting you our year- book strived diligently to record the events of the fateful and fruitful year which has just passed, In this volume of the U we have tried to emphasize those extracurricular activities which contribute as much in their own way to the well-being and success of the student as the burning of midnight oil. The gala Homecoming, secrets shared with classmates , the excitement at the football games, planning the Junior-Senior Prom, and final thoughts of parting at graduation--these are just some of the memories that make a school. mee 4 Page Introduction , , , , , 1 1 Dedication , , , , 4 Graduates , , , 5 Undergraduates , , , 34 Activities . , , , 56 Sports .... , , 77 Administration , , , 90 Faculty , , , 94 Advertising , , , , 101 5 D It is with the utmost respect and best wishes for the future that we, the class of 1965, dedicate our yearbook to you, Mr. and Mrs, Bohn, In your past years at Union, you have proven your patience and understanding in many ways, You have always been ready to help those who have come to you with their problems, and through this guidance, many of these problems have been easier to bear. You, Mr. Bohn, have shown great interest in your sponsorship of the school activities, a.nd have helped many idle hands to create in your shop classes. The mechanical drawing classes would not be the same without your smiling face, Mrs. Bohn, and your classes will always be remembered for their pleasant atmosphere and fine teaching. It is not easy for us to leave Union and go out into an entirely new way of life, but with teachers like you as a guideline, the task' will seem much easier and more worthwhile. Andrikanich. e. 2nd EIMS? auifdetafzq The class of nineteen sixty-five, Has kept it's many hopes alive, We now recall our past five years, Remembering through a mist of tears, The memories of our high school days, As we go on our separate ways. Under the capable supervision of Miss Jackson, the bewildered group of eighth graders, who entered Union in the fall of 1960, soon settled down to the routine of high school life. The first task of the class was to elect class officers. Those chosen were: Judy Pompe, President, Ray Kokoskie, Vice-President, and Pam Spanogians, Sec- retary-Treasurer. At the end of the eighth grade year, four students who excelled in scholastic ability were the recipiants of the American Legion Awards. They were: Betsy Canning, Judy Pompe, Jim Hanlin, and Reggie Carr. As freshmen we came back that year, To prove that we were alwa s near Y v I To help the school in all it s needs, To calls of seniors we paid heed. As freshmen we returned to Union a little more con- fident, a little more relaxed, and a little more prominent in school affairs. The freshmen proved their good judge- ment in their selection of the following officers: Reggie Carr, President, Jim Hanlin, Vice-President, and Kathy Porchiran, Secretary-Treasurer. Our years at Union number three, An active class for all to see, We studied hard, but fun came, too, We had our fill of things to do. In the fall of '63, we returned as sophomorestocon- tinue our high school education. We elected as class officers the following: Jim Hanlin, President, Dianne Lounder, Vice-President, and Donna Harris, Secretary- Treasurer. Six new cheerleaders were chosen: Janet Cunningham, Ann Danek, Sonnie Figley, Peggy Nokovich, Sunny Pascarella, and Pam Rodriguez. Rosalind Mader and Dorothy O'Shanka were chosen to join the majorette squad. During our sophomore year a catastrophe, which saddened the hearts of us all, occured. Union High School burned, leaving only charred memories of what was once our school. We picked up where we left off by holding the class party in the cafeteria of the new school. Our Junior year was full of fun, But work seemed to be never done, The prom, the play, and studies, too, We always had so much to do. ' As juniors, one of the first orders of business was the election of class officers. The following were selected: Judy Pompe, President, Pete Spotti, Vice-President, and Peggy Pendeville, Secretary-Treasurer. The jlmiors held their annual magazine campaign under the direction of Mrs. Pusateri. Our goal was surpassed by 3330. Class In the fall of '64, rings were ordered in October. Our class party and play, The Trial of Nancy Gage , kept us busythrough the year. Climaxing the year was the Jr.-Sr. Prom, held in the school gym. Betsy Canning, Diane Gregorski, and Joanne Smiley were our first .foreign exchange students. We entered in these high school doors, For our last year of Union High, We think of all we've done, then sigh. Our final selection of class officers was: Phil Esno, Pendeville, Secretary-Treasurer. Our senior play, under President, Pam Rodriguez, Vice-President, and Peggy the direction of Miss O'Hern, was a great success. As seniors we will leave this year, With memories in our hearts so dear, With thanks to teachers, school, and friends, For all they've done up to the end, Of high school days through these five years, We see them through a mist of tears.
