After leaving California we journeyed to Colorado Springs, Colorado, and there decided to ascend P1ke's Peak Whom should we have as a guide but Robert Bertschl He had been at this work for almost seven years Hurrying on east, we arrived in St Louis Having heard that the Cincinnati Redi were playing the St Louie Cardinals in St Louis that day, we decided to go After squeezing past a half row of people, I finally sat down by an attractive b1onde,who seemed to be doing all her yelling for the first baseman for the Cardi nals After having her shout, 'Come on, Hillyl' in my ear about ten times it fi nally rang a bell in my memory Grabbing the binoculars, I focused my vision on that first baseman and found that it was he Gilbert Hill was playing first base for the Cardinals! I decided to find out who this woman was who knew my old class mate Turning to look at her for the first time, imagine my surprise to find that it was Mary Paulin Hill now She informed me that she was running a restuarant in the city and invited us in for our dinner Reminlscing after dinner, she told me that Martha Moeier had just been given the position of President of the University of Chicago, the first woman ever to be president of that school of higher learning Edith Waddell was a private secretary to the Indiana Congressman from the Tenth District She had really moved up and was planning to run for Congress herself On to Cincinnati and trouble car trouble that is When we finally pulled into a garage, guess who came out to fix the auto The mechanic was none otler than Gene Beasley It seems that he and his father ere running a chain of garages in Cincinnati While I was waiting for the c r to be repaired, I decided to have my hair fixed When I inquired about the best salon in Cincinnati I was informed that none was better than the Elite As I entered I was greeted by a pair of arms be longing to none other than Donna Haverty! She told me that all of the Seniors of 1948 had left College Corner Audrey Bell was a foreign newspaper correspondent for the New York Times She had just returned from abroad and was staying at the Gibson Hotel in Cincinnati for a short time Hoping to get to talk to Audrey, we hurried to the hotel We ere told the desk that she was not to be disturbed We managed to get the hotel clerk to send up our name and within ten minutes she was do1nsta1rs with us She told us French foreign minister Betty had seen quite a bit of the c untry and 'as very sophisticated Also she said that Jean Thurston was returning from Paris where she had been studying Paris Fashi ns and modeling She was planning to open a very exclusive shop in New York Now all but one of our group was accounted for As we journeyed on tovard New York, I wondered more and more where she was One evening we entered a verv fine hotel for a party and were greeted by the hotel hostess She was very courteous and attractive, and all evening I wondered about her Finally I asked who she was, and imagine my surprise to find that it was Patty Dudley I spent the rest of the evening telling her all the news Time had come to start home, and I went back with a happy heart What a dif ference ten years had made in all of them Perhaps in ten more years I would see them again But meanwhile I felt that 'Old Unionu must be proud tnat we are among her graduates MARGERY DeGRIEF CLASS WILL We, the Senior Class of l9U8 being of fairly sound mind and body feel that we cannot leave Union without giving our successors something to remember us by We therefore have set the following articles to be our last will and testament I Edith Waddell my quietness to Amelia Buttery so that she can be seen and not heard I Jean Thurston my pen, to Dean McQu1ston so he won't be continually inter rupting classes to borrow one I, Margery DeGre1f my ability to win arguments in English Class, to Janice Samuelson so her talent will not be wasted I, Gene Beasley, my back seat in the study hall,to Rex Clark so he von't have 2 . . 0 , ll . , ' . , C - O - . , . , g . . w at ,A - . -I ., 1 . that she had returned home with Betty Richardson, who was now working with the I' Q Q O O 6 Q O O Q O 8 .
