SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Ccontlnuedi our classmates and their family, the Wallace family Perhaps the high 8P0t of the evgning was Donna Haverty and her 'Singing Violin 'If you have never heard her p ay on t Our Sophomore year was a rather uneventful one We did, however accomplish a great deal scholastically speaking In April of l9b6,a sorrowful group of Sopho mores entered M1ller's Funeral Home to pay last respects to one of their class mates, Rhodema Back As we entered our junior year, we found school quite different We had lost one of our good friends, Suot H R Brauchla, who had been our leader for seven years We were very fortunate to get Mr Carl J Phillips from Camden, Ohio to take his place Mrs Rueggeberg listened to discussions about candy sales, selling refreshments at basketball games, and other class problems Two new students who Joined our group were Robert Bertsch and Martha Mosier The grand finale of our Junior year was the Junior Senior Reception May 2 at the Eaton Country Club The Junior and Senior classes, the members, and their husbands and wives attended, approximately sixty people The theme was 'An Old Fashioned Garden,' with the decorations carried out ingly After a fine dinner we danced to the music of Dean Pottenger and chestra held faculty ln all accord his or In May several members of our class helped serve the Alumni Banquet which gave us a preview of what nas yet to come When the summer had rolled on its way, we took our places for the last time ln the last three rows of the study hall We were THE SENIORS at last We wel comed Elvin Frazee to our group for a half year This made our number fourteen As the first bell rang on October 17 we left school to go to Hamilton have our pictures taken After a uprlmping and posingu morning, fe spent the afternoon touring the plants of the Hamilton Journal and The Champion Paper Mills In the evening we attended the movie, 'Welcome Stranger ' of Middletown radio s atlon On December 12 we sponsored the Senior with the Christmas season This was our last sponsored event Since an Ohianlan had not been published Dance Decorations were in keeping for eight years, our class added the publication of this one to its many other activities When we received our mater ial for the Ohianian everyone began to work very hard to make this project a suc cessful one We presented the school our present of an inter communication system early in the fall of our senior year It was set up and put into use immediately Now we can Journey Junior Banquet are yet claim us among her Alumni CLASS PROPHECY hardly realize that we have come to the end of our twelve year Senior Reception, Baccalaureate Services Commencement, and Alumni before us Looking forward we hope that Union will be proud to In the summer of 1958 after long waiting and careful planning, my husband and I left our cattle ranch in Texas to start on a tour of the United States Traveling westward, we visited Hollywood first We saw bright lights blazing the name of a new star named Ronald Freeman We decided to attend the premiere of his new p1ct1re, Among the Stars' and imagine our surprise to find that the new star was none other than Elvin Fraree, who had changed his name While talking to him after the show,we were told that Mildred Nolen was Director of G1rl's Physical Education at the University of California and was making good at her Job O - O I . 0 I i . .
