UNION COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION The U. C. A. was organized in December of 1934. It is similar to the P. T. A. This organization is composed of parents, teachers, and other interested members of the school community The regular meeting night is the third Tuesday evening of each month during the school term. The meetings consist of a short program, guest speak- er, discussion of school problems, and a general business sesson. Mr. Earl Witter was the first president. The ofdcers for 1935-1936 were: president, Harry Arderyg vice-pres- ident, Mrs. Curtis Kennedyg secretary, Mrs. Warner Mcorg treasurer, Gordon Kay: corresponding secretary, W. M. Wright. The newly elected oflicers for 1936-1937 are as follows: president, Harry Arderyg vice-president, Mrs. 0:'ea Brown, secretary, Mr's. Mable Stewartg treasurer, James Orrg corresponding secretary, W. M. Wright. This organization has raised money by serving banquets to the Liberty Commercial Club, Preble County Schoolmasters' Club, Junior-Senior reception, and the Alumni banquet. 'The money thus earned is being used to purchase dishes, silverware, and equipment for the Home Economics department in an effort to inaugurate a hot lunch service next year. MUSIC The music organizations are undez' the direction of Miss Inez Visser. An orchestra was organized this year' and has made rapid progress. They are furnishing the music for commencement. The Senior Girls' Choral Club is composed of girls in grades 10, 11, and 12. They have been invited to sing at numerous functions besides the regular school activities. They took part in the May Festival held at Liberty on the evening of May lst. They are singing at the baccalaureate serlces. The Junior Girls' Choral Club is composed of girls from grades 7, 8, and 9. They have sung at several school activities this year. UNION BAND The Union Band was organized in 1932 and has been under the direction of Mr. McClain during that time. A patron's committee to help with this work is composed of Mrs. Orea Brown, Mrs. Abbie Martin, and Mrs. Gordon Kay. The band plays at the Butler Cc-unty Fair, Hallowe'en program, school activities, and fills many summer en- gagements. A yearly band entertainment is given in the spring each year at the school auditorium. HI- U - CLUB The Hi-U Club is composed of honor-roll pupils and honor award members of the athletic teams.. This 'organization promotes schcol parties, programs, and noon recreations. Joe Marcum is presidentg Claire Martin, first vice-president: Louise King- ery, second vice-president, Betty Ardery, secretary-treasurer. CHEER LEADERS Louise Kingery has served for two years as a very capable and efficient leader. She has been assisted by Lucile Fudge. These girls are to be complimented for their Work at basketball games and at the county tournament. CRIMSON AND GOLD REVUE For the past two years a schcol program has been given. during the month of April. Each class furnishes a part of the program and almost all of the pupils take part. These programs have been attended by large and interested crowds. The program in- cludes singing, stunts, short plays, acts of magic, radio broadcasts, dramatizations, and new and original surprises each year.
