Panel Groups And Simulation Games Used By Social Studies Dept. Panel groups and simulation games are just a few of the many activities enjoyed by the students of Union's Social Studies Dept. Movies and filmstrips are also included in Mr. Michael Rawlings' Govern- ment and U.S. History classes. Mr. Rawlings is a first year teacher at Union and a graduate of Ball State. Mrs. Nita Burton teaches World History, beginning with the earliest civilization, continuing through the Crusades, both World Wars, and ending with present day Man. The Government classes studied about the com- plicated functions of the American government dur- ing the first semester. The last half of the year was spent trying to understand the production, distribu- tion, and consumption of goods produced throughout the United States. The U.S. History students are concerned with their nation's history from the American Revolution through the last election. 52-Academics ....h.ff..,..a r--... X Chorus Provides Entertainment Through Song Chorus students have some free time while Mr. Wise and Mrs. Haas discuss a Choir arrangement. This years chorus provided enloyment for many people through their singing. The chorus performed at a special convocation before Thanksgiving vaca- tion. They participated in a music festival at Hag- erstown in March. With the money that the chorus earned from selling candy, they purchased a stereo tape player plus a Conn baritone to be used in band. Concentration is shown by jackie Boseley and Pat Bromley. il
