This is UHS Monitor, your current events program bringing you news of today’s people making history in this year of 1986. Our news-gathering satellite, BOBCAT I, is in its orbit once again, monitoring news of the Class of 1961. Mr. Glen Bates, former instructor of the class, has the distinction of being the engineer who designed it. Passing over our nation's capitol we see a secretary still at work in her boss’s office. Total office force here is CLAUDIA GAIL HERMAN, and she seems to be typing a statement for the press conference her boss, the President, is going to give. The new President is not only the first woman to hold this highest office, but she is also the first Whig to be chief executive. Just down the corridor is Madam President herself writing a letter home. The super lens enables us to see the return address. It reads: SHARRON KOHL, White House, Washington, D.C. On New York's 5th Avenue is situated the House of EILEEN, renowned fashion firm. The head stylist is Mrs. Robert Bowles in private life. She has recently received a White House appointment as exclusive fashion consultant to the new president. The head model here is still the venerable, vivacious veteran, Vickie Ann Vickers, (whose Christian name is CAROLYN). Miss Vickers, whose latest ex” is George Hamilton, confided to a reporter during her last face lift, The most fascinating man Michael Rockerfeller has proposed to me, but my 2 children don't feel I should accept. Miss Vickers refuses to reveal what her decision was, but she said it was made through the advice of CAROL SLEMP, nationally syndicated personal consultant. Miss Slemp's understanding solutions to her reader's problems are found daily in the Dear Carol column. BILL RICKER is the proud new owner of The Island Queen , the only showboat still on the Mississippi. He acquired this treasure in the casino of the boat while playing Black Jack with the former owner, Mr. Bill Phillips. He instructed Ricker in high school in all mathematical properties of games of chance. Looking in on the local hospital, we soon discover that Nurse JUNE FRADES still gets pinched the most around here. She always was a reckless driver. Nothing stands in June's way when she's on her way to a patient. She is currently on round-the-clock duty as a special for a geriatrics case, Mrs. Charlene Larsen. DON CARMAN holds controlling shares of Carman Elevator Shoes, which he founded. Its slogan.... For More Man— Buy CARMAN . In the current season, he led scoring in the National Basketball Assn. , when loyally wearing a pair of his own shoes, he rose to a height of 7 7 . Mrs. Baine Cater, nee CONNIE BALLARD, is still scrubbing floors. She has put her husband through schooling to obtain his BA, BS, MA, PhD degrees. He is now working for some other degree. Their 5 children also attend college. Says Connie, I always did think I'd like to go to college some day, but now my arthritis is starting to bother me. GEORGE A. YOUNCE has successfully launched a production venture in vacuum cleaners. Some of his first and best buyers have been businessmen from the Class of '61. His slogan.. More Bounce with a Younce . Over LasVegas, the Bobcat I flashes frantic signals with the gyrations of JOY Bubbles TURNER who opened last night at the Sands. Bubbles began her dancing 30 years ago and is still blowing and going. Incidentally, Mr. Wallis Kerr still directs the orchestra for her performances. FAR EL BAXTER has cleaned out corruption once again. When he stepped in as prexy of Baxter Baxter, Baby Boosters, he threw out all officials who had been padding their expense accounts with Chix diapers. Now the company is enjoying financial gain and out-producing Johnson Johnson. Mrs. Baxter formerly SUE HARRRIS has retained her lovely voice using it to advantage in community cultural efforts. The rest of the family watch their father's financial progress especially every other Friday when all 8 of them line up for their allowances. The hottest thing going record-wise is D. Oregon TYLER and his bangy guitar. The new sensation's hottest number is 3272. He made it all the way this week with the 1 song, Tarzan's Rock . His recent spectacular at the Bamboo Hut in New York contained a show-stopper billed as 77 Sunset Strip. In Chicago, ED NANTZ, Sr., is with Westinghouse Co., in the Appliance Price-Fixing Dept. He is also production manager of the egg-beater division. One of his best advertisers is Mrs. Helen Stanford, head of Betty Crocker Test Kitchens. Passing above Nairobi, Kenya, we can easily understand why diplomats are calling SONNY JOHNSON the 2nd Soapy Williams. He gallivants around the African countryside at an alarming pace on what he says are hunting safaris. His trophies include a notch out of Bill Ricker, a companion whom he mistook for a wild boar. JANET WHEELER has another opening on Broadway tonight. She reached new heights in her career a few weeks ago when she received the Academy Award for Best Actress of the Year. The role which brought her acclaim was that of Margo in The Schizophrenic . Those of you watching TV tonight will not want to miss Peter Dragon . This thrilling adventure series follows Peter the Pilot as he snatches helpless monkeys out of orbit and builds revolutionary new paper airplanes. The star of the show is the ageless, masculine PATRICK EDVALSON. MAUREEN MILLER, now Mrs. Gary Carman, is chief head dresser stylist at the lush Maine Chance beauty resort founded by Elizabeth Arden. This establishment was once frequented by the late Mamie Eisenhower. It is now patronized often by another former first lady, the elderly Jacqueline Kennedy. Maureen confides, Mrs. Kennedy’s head still has that chic, full-blown look but she really should buy a new wig. Another program you'll want to see is The Wilde West , starring STAN WILDE. This top-rated cowpoke program features Stan, the Man as the sinister, sneering scheming scrounge out of the days when the West was Wilde.. See Stan out-plot ranchers in their shiny cattle trucks. See him gun in city traffic. Watch him take the long walk down Main Street in the blazing noonday sun when his gas tank is empty. Yes these were the days in the Blazing 60's. Passing over the south, we are reminded that the Kentucky Derby is a big event for horse-lovers bookies. Preparing for victory at Churchill Downs are Sir Gawain and his owner, RITA TARTER. Every Derby winner for the last 15 years has come out of the Tarter Stables. Incidentally Miss T. also ownes the champion jumping toad of Union County, Oregon. At the U. of Illinois, JUDY BUCK is in spring training. Running in the Olympics last year, Judy Fast Buck smashed the women’s 100- 200- meter records previously held by Wilma Rudolph, another U. S. star of several decades ago. Coaching her is the former P. E. Instructor, Erma Puls. DANIEL HOYT, Esq. , gentleman farmer Gettysburg, Pa. , DOES edit Esquire magazine in which he acquired early interest back in the lockers of U.H.S. His avocation is his farm’s fine kennels where he has raised many champion pointers. As the Bobcat I hastens on its way, we see below EARL SANDERS, another country squire strolling out to the bull pen. He is Secretary of Agric. His big interest is a pet which is the national champion bull. Says he, I guess the only language I know is bull talk. I’ve been having a little trouble around my place lately tho. It seems this JIMbo BATEMAN, the retired matador, still has the bull ring in his Geritol blood. I caught him trying to get my prize bull to charge an old red union suit. ’’ Word from EOC tells us that RITA GIBBS is busy as head of the Education Dept. Mrs. Gibbs enjoys her work, particularly the seminars in post-graduate studies she is conducting. She says, I find the secondary teachers who are my students quite capable. Pyatt is an extremely good student; I wouldn’t mind Bartholomew's shaving sanding the tables if he didn't do it during class. But they do need it after Lewis has been carving backfield diagrams Stewart has propped his boots on them. The U. N. is still in session this evening as the General Assembly debate rages. The new U.S. delegate, LERICE TAYLOR (former Jr. Senator from Ore.) is verbally deadlocked with Yuri Gagarin, the Soviet delegate. Miss Taylor has the distinction of being the only member of the Senate to out-talk her late colleague, Sen. Wayne Morse. The State of California has recently appointed CAVELL NIELSON, head license examiner. Says Miss Nielson, I ought to have my head examined. Our most persistant applicant is my old high school superintendent who retired to California in 1980. He has applied for a license every week since that time. Marlene seems to be rather unsuccessful in coaching him. The little old lady tries awfully hard though. A place really sending out busy signals is an office in downtown Okeechobee, Wisconsin. D.D. (Dirty Deal) STRAIGHT is head accountant. After graduating from a stiff math course with honors, Duane headed for the big city. His best customers, old UHS classmates, say he is the best bookie west of the Chicago Police Station. If you are wondering how all this news was obtained, it was from the desk of Miss KATHY EDVALSON, newswriter, programmer and editor of the U.H.S. Monitor. She says that any resemblance to persons living or dead is purely intentional. Those parties wishing to sue for libel are requested to present themselves at the UHS Monitor Office of the Bobcat I Receiving Station.
