CLASS HISTORY We, the Seniors of 1953, are now finishing twelve long years of hard work. It seemed confusing at first, but gradually we became ac- customed to the daily routine. In our Freshman year, we were thirty-five in number. The class officers that year were President, Jerry Houserg Vice -President, Ben- ny Yountg Secretary and Treasurer, Carroll Hoyle, Reporter, Virginia Whitener. As Sophomores, there were thirty-three in number. That year eight of our girls were chosen as waitresses for the Junior-Senior Ban- quet. Several of our boys and girls were on the basketball team. Our class officers that year were President, Benny Yountg Vice -President, Jimmy Heavnerg Secretary and Treasurer, Carroll Hoyle, Reporter, Jerry Houser. There were twenty-eight enrolled in our Junior year. The high- light of our Junior year was the Junior-Senior Banquet we gave April Fourth in honor of the Seniors. It was held in the school cafeteria with a Dutch the me . During that year twelve members were initiated into the National Beta Club, and held positions on the Trail Blazer staff. We had se- ven girls and four boys on the basketball team. The title of our Junior play was The Campbells Are Coming . The officers that year were President, Jerry Houserg Vice-Pre- sident, Jimmy Heavnerg Secretary-Treasurer, Peggy Carswellg Repor- ter, Peggy Leatherman. Then came the Big Year , our Senior year, with twenty-nine in number. At the first of the year we received our rings. We elected the staff for the Acorn and began working on it. We also had time to get up a play entitled, Look Out Lizzie . The officers for our Senior year are President, Jimmy Heavnerg Vice -President, Jerry Houserg Secretary-Treasurer, Peggy Carswellg Reporter, Peggy Leatherman. Our mascots we elected from the first grade were Jewell Kay Gilbert and Larry Sain. We're proud that one of our members, Irene Gilbert, has been able to come twelve years without missing any. We're proud of this, the history of our high school years. Now our high school years are over and we go forward to our life ahead. Historian, Jean Gilbert
