611155 Prophecy Little did my classmates realize when they chose me to look into the future for their prophecy, that during the past summer I had become interested in the nearly lost art of palmistry. After having read all tne books and pamphlets available, lknew that I could successfully read the palms of my classmates. Everyday for almost three weeks, I strove diligently to catch a glimpse of the palms of the unsuspecting Seniors. One of my best uses was to borrow a nickel or a dime, and upon repaying the loan, lwould quickly glance at the tell-tale life lines of my classmates' hands. What an interesting hand Jacquelene Brooks has! I see that she will be happily mar- ried to a Methodist minister, and continue her work as educational director of her hus- band's church. Ah, David Reep and Harry Bangle, What thrifty lads! Together they found ten cents which they could spare. Upon returning their pennies I observed in each of their palms great mechanical ability, and in the near future will find workin Brazil. It seems that David will be a confirmed bachelor, but Harry will be ensnared by a dancing senorita. Bobby Heavner' curving life line indicates that his dancing feet could bring stardom to him, but I see a greater future for him, that of teaching Mama's little darlings the fun- damental steps. I observed in the delicate palms of many of my classmates a future for them in the hustle of the big cities. lt will be difficult for them to become accustomed to that fast life, but you cannot keep a Union girl down! Mary Gilbert will find being manager of an elite Miami cafe an exciting job. Veedis Jordan and Nell Crowder will continue their friendships in New York City where they will have occupations as stenographers for Wall Street brokers. The life lines in the strong brown hands of David I-Iuss and Paul Houser show that they will lead adventurous lives as drivers for a coast-to-coast trucking company. The future that I read in the life lines of Edison Gilbert and Marvin Hoover, came as a surprise to me, for Edison's palm indicates that he will enter the construction business, while Marvin will progress highly in the Duplin Mill. Jimmie Carpenter will make the class of '52 very outstanding by becoming an am- bassador to Europe. Ann Hauss will prove herself the best of softball pitchers when she wins the Olympics for the U. S. team. Bobby Jones will be drawn by the beauty of the mountains, for his life line shows that he will probably manage a drug store in one of the larger mountain towns. Betty Wise will wear the white dress of mercy. She will rise high in the field of nurs- ing and will attain position as supervisor of nurses in a large hospital. The wonderful climate of California will draw Helen Johnson there to make her home. She will have a full life as the wife of a prosperous fruit grower. Faye Ward will enter into the dramatic art of playwriting. Her plays will receive top acclaim from all the critics both through her own ability and through the influence of her close friend, Joan Saine, whose life line indicates that she has a rapid rise from a reporter of news to the ownership of a large syndicate. The hands of Sam Canipe indicate that he will become a famous ballplayer. After three weeks of untiring effort in trying to discover what the future holds, lam happy to know that the Seniors of 1952 are going to have highly satisfying lives. Class Prophetess Libby Sigmon

, .. . - , .W .,a,-...naf - ..-. MEMORIES Often when we in life review, Our thoughts shall once again renew The many friends that we have made, And honors upon them we have laid. Some of us grew up togetherg Others came in one by one. Many joined us in the Freshman Class As our high school was begun. They were happy glorious days Which were filled with laughter and fun. And these we shall keep always In our store house of treasures we've won. And now, as we bid you farewell And each goes his separate way On UHS our thoughts shall dwell. May God keep us day by day.
