C ASS HISTORY We, the class of 1950, have completed twelve long years of study. The road we have traveled has been unpredictable. Nevertheless, we endured the many bumps and ruts. and have mastered the three Rs In 1946, we began our Freshman year with an enrollment of 39. Officers that year were: President, Don Houser: Vice-President, Sam Goins, Secretary-Treas- 1.11-er, Betty Joe Propstg Reporter. Geraldean Hoyle. During our Sophomore year, eight girls were waitresses at the Junior-Senior Banquet and four were on the basketball team. Class officers were: President, Sam Goins: Vice-President, Don Houserg Secretary-Treasurer, Geraldean Hoyle, Reporters. Mable Richard and Betty Joe Propst. Our Junior year was a very active one. We gave a play entitled, i'Grandad Steps Out. Along with the play, eleven members were initiated into the National Beta Club and held positions on the Trail Blazern stalf, five were on the basketball team, two were on the baseball team, and two were bus drivers. It was also during this year that the cafeteria was opened. Class officers were: President, Sam Goins: Vice-President. Don Houserg Sec- retary-Treasurer, Betty Joe Propstg Reporter, Geraldean Hoyle. July 21, 1949, we began our last year at Union. The Acorn Staff was elected, and oHicers as follows: President, Charles Houserg Vice-President, Bobby Weaverg Secretary-Treasurer, Betty Carswellg Reporter, Don Houser. With the beginning of the fall term, we began work in earnest, most of our efforts being directed toward our annual. Our mascots, chosen from the first grade, are Dorothy Beam and Tommy Rhyne. We have had our ups and downs. The road ahead is still uncertain, but what- ever is in store for us, we are piepared to face it. We shall be ever grateful to our teachers, parents and members of the community, who have made the road brighter, straightcr, and the load lighter. With humbleness and deep regret, we say.
