at 5, SNA KGL fir Gi. Motto: United We Serve Flower: Rose Colors: Red and White Class Poem We the Seniors are ready to face the world, Leaving behind the joys of striving, As onward on our way we go With unknown things arising. School days will never be forgotten As the years go on unending, For we have placed them in our memories dear And are striving to keep ascending. So we must travel onward On the great unknown road, And look to God to help us To carry our burden and load. Now we give thanks to our teachers Who have guided us through the years, And helped us through the passing time To strive upward without fear. Class Poet, Lrnpa GILBERT. kk ok

wn kkk Class History In the summer of 1941, forty-nine boys and girls entered Union High School, looking forward to four years of profitable training. We realize now that we were in the rough and needed polishing. Much has been accomplished, but there is still room for improvement. After the registration, we elected our class officers. Under their leadership and the guidance of Mr. Turner, our principal, we completed a successful year. When we enrolled the next year, we found that several members of our class had not returned. There were several changes in the faculty, too. Since this was our second year in high school we felt more at ease and began to take part in more of the school activities. The next year as Juniors, several more dropped from our enrollment. Because of this and a decrease in the membership of the other classess too, we lost a teacher and the commercial department. Due to war conditions, our school was denied certain activities. We were not permitted to give the Junior play; however, we did give the Seniors a banquet. During the summer of 1944, there was a widespread epidemic of Polio. This delayed the opening of our school until September 18. Twenty-six enrolled as Seniors. T'wo have stopped, leaving twenty-four struggling along, looking forward to graduation. Members of the class have taken part in all activities. Seven are members of the 4-H Club; nine are on the basketball teams; four are in the Beta Club; and four are members of the F. F. A. Our past is a pleasant memory and we are hoping for a successful future. Historian, Brit. LEATHERMAN. tok kk

tok Class Song As we come to the end of our way, We are happy that we can say, We will ever abide, by the rules you have tried To teach us from day to day. We have struggled along through the years To train to go on without fears, But now that we part, There’s sadness at heart, As we say farewell to you here. We have tried to learn life’s golden rule; We have tried to be faithful in school; Our work here is done, we’ve had plenty fun, And now we must be on our way. May the years that lie before us Be filled with blessings and trust, And now as we go We want you to know We love and honor our school. O08 kk kk
