The President Receives Warm Welcome It was a proud day for local Republicans, as well as for students of Union-Endicott High School The stadium was filled with 25,000 peo- ple according to local police or 40,000, according to the Secret Service. More remained outside the stadium The crowd welcomed President Reagan with enthusiasm; and although there were a few demonstrators, they were few and not organized. Demonstrators carrying pickets marched outside the stadium. Because pickets were not allowed inside the stadium, some demonstrators removed their signs from the stakes and carried them in their hands. Others remained outside during the event. The President's motorcade drove down the hill by the Community Memorial Center, through the parking lot, and into the football field behind the platform. After members of the platform party had been introduced, the President entered.
