Messages From Our Principals As you, the 1958 Seniors, are grad- uating from the Union-Endicott High School, we, the faculty, extend to you our sincere felicitations. We trust that during the three years you have spent in senior high school, you now know how to use most successfully the tools which will help you to face the future. MARY L. PITKIN Principal When we consider what has hap- pened in the past one hundred years with the development and expansion of our country, we sometimes wonder if we can continue to change at such a rapid rate. But man power is still needed for in- dustry and brain power is still needed for continued cultural and social growth. In our life plan we need a little more faith and a little more idealism. This, together with our struggle for more knowledge, will lead us to the rich future which lies ahead. De WITT S. WOODARD Associate Principal

MESSAGE TO SENIORS The present and the future are so closely connected that they may be likened to different sides of the same coin. Because today’s future is only tomorrow’s present, you are actually preparing for tomorrow today. What then should you be doing now to prepare for the days to come? There are many answers to this question, and I have space for only a few suggestions: 1. BE AMBITIOUS. Put your undivided energy into every task assigned to you in school and outside of school. Work up to your capacity and try to increase your capacity for work. 2. BE COURAGEOUS. Don’t be afraid of responsibility. Stand up for what you believe is right, and if you are proven to be wrong, have the courage to admit it. Don’t be afraid of a job because it looks difficult: if you have the ability to do it, have the courage to try it. 3. BE NEIGHBORLY. Although your generation will try to conquer space, it also ought to try to love your neighbors who live on the earth. Your ability to love and respect people of all races and colors and creeds may be just as important as your ability to make rockets. If you are going to reach for the moon, try it in the field of human relations as well as in the field of science. WM. J. KRUM, JR. Superintendent S
