The Inauguration of Our New President On September 30, 1983, Jack Carter Phillips was inaugu- rated as the fifteenth presi- dent of Union College. Over 60 guests, presidents of colleges and uni- and into the Conway Boatman Chapel. The Inauguration Was A Time For Smiles Visiting dignitaries enjoyed a buffet brunch in the gymansium before the inaugural ceremonies. Some facts about the Inauguration Presidents and delegates from 61 col- leges and universities and 9 representa- tives from learned societies and assoca- tions attended the ceremonies. Besides flag bearer Douglas Lunsford, other students served as marshalls in the academic procession: Joe Karr, Donald Happy Mobelini, Michael Taylor, and Mathew Kompancaril. Campus Minister Quentin Scholtz smiles with the new president. -
