,s , A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT Thank you, Stespean makers, for a great service rendered— a noble and difficult task well done. The 1950 Stespean chronicles in art and story a historic year in the annals of Union College. The academic year of 1949-50 stands out in Union history as epochal for at least two reasons. This year marked the completion and occupancy of the wonderfully beautiful and serviceable chapel-fine arts building. The dream and planning of many years came to realization. This has brought to the college a prestige and general confidence in a great wave of public enthusiasm never before experienced on this campus. A second event of the year contributing to the epochal record is the fine action of the Board of Trustees of Union College in setting up nine brave objectives for the college in its financial advance to be realized by 1954, the year of the great Diamond Jubilee Celebration which will worthily commemo- rate the seventy-five years of service of this college,— 1879-1954. The goal of $750,000 has been adopted for added endowment and further improvement of Union ' s buildings and equipment. A still stronger Union is thus envisioned and the Trustees and friends of the college are committed to achieve- ment of this goal. Every graduate and friend of dear old Union should make haste to learn the particulars of this Diamond Jubilee Advance and co-operate fully in putting over this great achievement.
